Support "Lunch Money Day" in TTC stations, February 17

Lunch Money Day is a grassroots fund-raising campaign which asks Torontonians to donate the equivalent of their lunch money to Second Harvest to help hungry Torontonians.

From 6 until 10 a.m. and from 4 until 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 17, look for Second Harvest volunteers in TTC stations. For every $5 you donate, Second Harvest can provide fresh food for ten meals to those who are hungry in our community. Last year, more than 250 companies, schools and individuals ran a Lunch Money Day campaign and raised enough funds to provide fresh food for over 480,000 meals. This year, you can feed Toronto’s hungry by helping to raise $330,000 to provide over 660,000 meals.

Thousands of people depend on Second Harvest’s food deliveries: 40 percent of the people who receive food from Second Harvest are children and young people. Seven refrigerated trucks deliver fresh food to services helping women fleeing domestic abuse, homeless people, seniors on fixed incomes, the working poor, new immigrants, children in need and thousands of others who have fallen on hard times. Second Harvest delivers enough fresh food to provide more than 16,000 meals a day.
