Less service to colleges and universities, February 22 to 25



Some call it “reading week”. Some call it “study week”. Some call it “mid-winter break”. Whatever you call it, the fact is that many colleges and universities are canceling classes next week, Tuesday, February 22 until Friday, February 25.

(Monday, February 21 is Family Day, a statutory holiday in Ontario. Most transit agencies except GO Transit operate with Sunday or holiday schedules that day. GO operates with Saturday schedules.)

Since fewer passengers are traveling to and from Brock University, Conestoga College’s Doon Campus, Durham College’s Oshawa Campus, Trent University’s Symons Campus, the University of Guelph, the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT), the University of Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier University and York University’s Keele Campus next week, GO Transit and other local transit agencies are canceling some of their bus services.

From Tuesday, February 22 until Friday February 25, GO is not operating the eastbound buses that leave the Scarborough Centre GO Bus Terminal at 7:10 and 9:40 a.m. Mondays to Fridays. (The buses arrive on the Oshawa Campus of Durham College at 7:50 and 10:20 a.m.)

The buses resume service on Monday, February 28.

GO buses continue to serve all other eastbound trips and all westbound trips along the route from Tuesday, February 22 until Friday February 25.


Trent University’s Symons Campus

Trent University East Bank express

From Tuesday, February 22 until Friday, February 25, southbound buses leave Peter Gzowski College at 8 a.m. and every 40 minutes until 10 p.m. Northbound buses leave the Downtown Peterborough Terminal at 7:40 a.m. and every 40 minutes until 9:40 p.m.

No late-night buses.

On Sunday, February 20, Family Day, Monday, February 21, Saturday, February 26 and Sunday, February 27, Peterborough Transit extends the regular Trent University West Bank express route to Peter Gzowski College. It also extends the west bank route to Gzowski after 10 p.m. from Tuesday, February 22 until Friday, February 25.

Trent University West Bank express

On Sunday, February 20, Saturday, February 26 and Sunday, February 27, southbound buses leave Peter Gzowski College at 9:55 a.m. and every hour until 11:55 p.m. They leave the Sonja Bata Library at 10 a.m. and every hour until midnight. Northbound buses leave the Downtown Peterborough Terminal at 9:30 a.m. and every hour until 11:30 p.m.

On Family Day, Monday, February 21, southbound buses leave Peter Gzowski College at 9:55 a.m., every hour until 9:55 p.m., 11:10 p.m. and midnight. They leave the Sonja Bata Library at 10 a.m., every hour until 10 p.m., 11:15 p.m. and 12:05 a.m. Northbound buses leave the Downtown Peterborough Terminal at 9:30 a.m., every hour until 9:30 p.m., 10:45 and 11:35 p.m.

Both GO Transit and Guelph Transit are decreasing service to and from the university during the holidays.

On Friday, February 25, GO is not operating the eastbound buses that leave the University Centre terminal at the University of Guelph at 1:40 and 4:10 p.m. (The buses arrive in Cooksville GO Station bus terminal at 2:40 and 5:10 p.m.)

The buses resume service on Monday, February 28.

GO buses continue to serve all other eastbound trips and all westbound trips along the route Sunday, February 20, Tuesday, February 22 to Friday, February 25 and Sunday, February 27.

It continues to operate all other buses that operate along the route Sunday, February 20, Family Day, Monday, February 21, Thursday, February 24, Friday, February 25, Saturday, **February 26 and Sunday, February 27.

On Thursday and Friday, February 24 and 25, GO isn’t operating the eastbound buses that leave the William G.
