TTC cancels Yonge subway service south of Bloor

The TTC has canceled subway service between Bloor and Union Stations this morning, because of a cracked rail near King Station.

Twenty-two shuttle buses replace the subway, stopping on Yonge Street close to all subway stations.

If you’re traveling to downtown Toronto from the north end of Toronto, consider traveling along east-west bus routes and then use the Spadina-University branch of the line to reach your destination.

Or, if you’re traveling from the east or west ends of the city, you may want to transfer to streetcars heading downtown from Main Street, Broadview or Dundas West Stations. Or transfer to north-south bus or streetcar routes at other stations, then transfer to streetcars. Avoid the Bloor-Yonge junction, if possible!

The TTC does not expect to be able to restore service until about 9 a.m.

Since the TTC is deploying 22 buses to replace the subway, it has to “borrow” some of the buses from other routes. Expect delays throughout the system this morning.
