Metrolinx board of directors meets, February 18

The Metrolinx board of directors meets this Friday, February 18 from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Only part of the meeting is a public meeting — the board will discuss many of the items on its agenda in private.

During the public part of the meeting, the board will consider staff reports or presentations on:

  • establishing guidelines for municipalities, transit agencies and other groups on building mobility hubs. (“The Big Move”, the Metrolinx’ regional transportation plan describes a future where “key transit stations become mobility hubs, where transportation modes, including rapid transit, local transit, specialized transit, cycling and accessible pedestrian networks come together seamlessly. Mobility hubs are locations for major destinations such as offices, hospitals, educational facilities and government services. They offer amenities to travellers such as heated waiting areas, traveller information centres, cafés or restaurants, and services like daycares, grocery stores or post offices.”)
  • developing a strategy for moving freight and goods through the Greater Toronto Area and Hamilton.
  • reporting on customer service at GO Transit.
  • finalizing an agreement with York Region describing the roles for both parties and which of the two is responsible for setting up, owning and operating the Viva bus rapidway program. (The province has invested $1.4 billion provincial in the project.)
  • updating the board on the Air Rail Link.

The board meets in the executive boardroom, 6th Floor, 20 Bay Street.
