Gardiner collision delays GO train service this morning

A crash on the Gardiner Expressway sent one vehicle into the path of an oncoming GO Transit train, creating serious delays for commuters this morning, Monday, February 28.

Around 8 a.m, GO announced it was closing two of four tracks in the area. However, trains are now moving after GO crews removed all the wreckage from the collision, although the event is still delaying service along both the 01 Lakeshore West and 09 Lakeshore East lines.

The impact of the collision in the westbound lanes of the expressway near Dowling Avenue forced one of the cars off the road, down an embankment and onto the tracks. Fortunately, the driver got out of the car before a train struck the vehicle.
