Web application predicts when the next streetcar arrives

Reader Darwin O’Connor e-mailed us to let us know about Transee, a web application that he’s developed.

It uses NextBus feeds to predict when the next vehicle is arriving at specific stops for all TTC streetcars. (It also provides information about the vehicles of other transit agencies that support NextBus feeds.) You can use the application for smart phones and portable devices.

Transee displays next-vehicle predictions to the second, vehicle and run number. The predictions count down in real time. (The run numbers can help you determine whether westbound 501 Queen streetcars are heading toward Humber or Long Branch.)

You can also use the app to:

  • view maps showing the actual location of approaching vehicles.
  • search by stop and route names.
  • find stops by your device’s GPS (geographic positioning service) or find stops near other stops.

For TTC users, Transee also provides:

  • “Next-vehicle” distances for TTC buses operating along the 29 Dufferin and 7 Bathurst routes.
  • Scheduled destination predictions for southbound 510 Spadina cars.
