Guelph Transit detours buses for Westmount construction,
starting April 11 (again!)



Update — Monday, July 11, 2:36 p.m.: Construction has ended and buses have resumed their regular route.


The City of Guelph is getting ready to finish its long-standing project from 2010 to rebuild Westmount Road, starting tomorrow, Monday, April 11.

Guelph Transit is again detouring buses operating along the 7 St. Josephs Hospital and Lourdes high school special routes.

Last year, contractors started work — and Guelph Transit detoured buses — on Monday, April 19 and continued through until Wednesday, December 22.


Lourdes high school special

Mondays to Fridays, starting Monday, April 11, the morning bus operates along its regular route to Speedvale Avenue West and Silvercreek Parkway, then detours:

southward along Silvercreek;
eastward along Paisley Road; and then
northward along Edinburgh Road North to Willow Road,
ending their trips.

The afternoon bus starts its trip on Kathleen Street at the pathway, then proceeds:

southward along Kathleen;
westward along Paisley Street and Road; and then
northward along Silvercreek Parkway to Speedvale Avenue West,
resuming their regular route westward along Speedvale West.

7 St. Josephs Hospital

From Monday, April 11 until Friday, June 17, inbound buses operate along their regular route to Westmount Road and Highview Place, then detour:

eastward along Highview;
southward along Kathleen Street; and then
westward** along London Road West to Yorkshire Street North,
resuming their current route southward along Yorkshire North.

Inbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Westmount Road across from Highview Place, Division Street and Summit Crescent and at Campion Avenue and London Road West.

Instead, inbound buses drop off and pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Highview Place beside #26 Highview and
  • on Kathleen Street at the pathway.

Outbound buses operate along their regular route to London Road West and Westmount Road, then detour:

westward along London West; and then
northward along Edinburgh Road North to Speedvale Avenue West,
resuming their regular route westward along Speedvale West.

Outbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Westmount Road north of London Road North, at Summit Crescent and Division Street,
  • at St. Joseph’s Health Centre,
  • on Westmount Road at Highview Place and Speedvale Avenue West and
  • on Speedvale Avenue West west of Brentwood Drive.

Instead, outbound buses drop off and pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Edinburgh Road North at the Wellington County District Catholic School Board and across from Achieve Fitness, north of Willow Road.

Inbound buses operate toward downtown.

Outbound buses operate away from downtown.
