TTC detours streetcars during Queen / Dufferin bridge work,
April 15 to 23

Updated — April 16, 7:41 a.m.: Metrolinx and GO postponed the project due to inclement weather during the weekend of April 16 and 17. TTC streetcars operate along their regular routes and do not detour.

Metrolinx and GO Transit continue their project to expand the Georgetown South rail corridor and build the Air Rail Link. This weekend, from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday, they’ll work on expanding the railway bridge across Queen Street West at Dufferin Street to accommodate new tracks.

The Queen Street West bridge carry only six tracks. This weekend, workers will widen the bridge to the north by about 17 metres (77 feet) to accommodate two more tracks. The work includes casting new abutments in place and installing new bridge spans.

After the Metrolinx and GO work is finished, TTC crews start rewiring the underside to the bridge so that it can accommodate streetcars — from 5 a.m. Monday until 9 a.m. the following Saturday.

The TTC is detouring streetcars operating along the 301 Queen overnight and 501 Queen routes while both projects take place. 301 / 501 Queen shuttle buses replace the cars while they detour.
