You can use PRESTO cards at Richmond Hill GO Station,
starting April 20

You can use PRESTO fare cards at Richmond Hill GO Station, tomorrow, Wednesday, April 20, as Richmond Hill becomes the next PRESTO “agency” at a GO station.

At a PRESTO agency, you can

  • buy a PRESTO card,
  • “load” value onto your card,
  • check your balance and
  • make various other transactions.

At Richmond Hill GO Station, you can use your PRESTO card to pay fares on all GO Transit trains serving the station. You can’t use the card to pay your fare on GO or York Region Transit buses. (Passengers can expect to start using PRESTO cards on GO and YRT buses this summer.)

Until Tuesday, May 17, you can visit Richmond Hill GO Station to trade your 10-ride ticket or monthly pass for a PRESTO card free. Present your ticket or pass to the station attendant and the attendant will transfer any balance to a PRESTO card and waive the usual the $6 issuance fee.

Read Transit Toronto’s June 4, 2010 post for more information about using PRESTO cards on GO trains.

Richmond Hill is the last GO station on the 61 Richmond Hill line to receive PRESTO equipment. All stations along the line are now PRESTO agencies.
