YRT revises routes and services, April 24



York Region Transit is making minor route changes and both increasing and decreasing service along a number of routes, starting Easter, Sunday, April 24


The changes affect these routes: Viva blue; Viva blue “A”; 1 Highway 7; 2 Milliken; 10 York U - Woodbridge; 13 Islington; 20 Jane - Concord; 22 King City; 22A King City; 28 Zenway - Highway 27; 34 Industrial Parkway; 51 Keswick Local; 77 Highway 7 / Centre; 85 / 85A / 85B Rutherford / 16th Avenue; 86 Weldrick - Newkirk; 87 Langstaff - Maple; 88 Bathurst; 90 / 90B Leslie; 91 / 91A Bayview; 98 / 99 Yonge late-night; 99 Yonge; 303 Bur Oak express; 444 Langstaff high school special.


Specifically, YRT is: increasing service along current routes; decreasing service along current routes; increasing the frequency of service along current routes; decreasing the frequency of service along current routes; revising current routes; extending current routes; revising service to and from universities; revising service to and from a high school; resuming seasonal service to and from attractions; and adjusting the schedules of current routes.


Increasing service along current routes


303 Bur Oak express

Starting Monday, April 25, extends the route westward. It’s also operating a bus on a new southbound trip. The bus leaves Bur Oak and Kennedy at 7:10 a.m. and arrives in Finch GO Bus Terminal at 8:08 a.m.

13 Islington

Starting Monday, March 7, YRT increased service along the route by operating a southbound bus along an earlier trip Mondays to Fridays. The first southbound bus of the day leaves Islington Avenue and Highway 27 in Kleinburg at 6:20 a.m. Mondays to Fridays.

It’s also adjusting the schedule so that the first southbound bus from Napa Valley and Islington Avenues starts its trip at Rutherford Road and Islington Avenue, picks up passengers along Napa Valley Avenue and then continues southward along Islington Avenue.

90 / 90B Leslie

Starting Sunday, April 24, YRT operates buses on two new southbound trips early Sunday-and-holiday mornings. The buses leave Leslie Street and Highway 7 at 8:04 and 8:56 a.m. and arrive in the Don Mills Station bus terminal at 8:25 and 9:17 a.m. Sundays and holidays.

Starting Monday, April 25, YRT buses on new trips along the 90B branch Mondays to Fridays during afternoon rush hours. A southbound bus leaves Orlando Avenue and Brodie Drive at 4:15 p.m. A **northbound bus leaves Don Mills Station at 3:35 p.m.

Starting Saturday, April 30, YRT operates buses on two new southbound trips early Saturday mornings. The buses leave Leslie Street and Highway 7 at 6:05 and 6:38 a.m. and arrive in the Don Mills Station bus terminal at 6:26 and 6:59 a.m. Saturdays.

YRT is also increasing the frequency of service along the route Sundays and holidays and decreasing the frequency of service along the route Saturdays.

Viva blue

Starting Monday, April 25, YRT operates a northbound bus along a new trip Monday-to-Friday mornings. The bus leaves the Finch GO Bus Terminal at 7:11 a.m. and arrives in the Newmarket GO Bus Terminal at 8:17 a.m.

YRT is also adjusting the schedule of the route.

Viva blue “A”

Starting Monday, April 25, YRT operates a bus along a new southbound trip early Monday-to-Friday mornings. The bus leaves the Newmarket GO Bus Terminal at 6 a.m. and arrives in the Finch GO Bus Terminal at 7:05 a.m.

YRT is also adjusting the schedule of the route.

99 Yonge

Starting Sunday, April 25, YRT operates a bus on a new northbound trip early Saturday, Sunday and holiday mornings. The bus leaves the Richmond Hill Centre Terminal at 5:52 a.m. and arrives in the Bernard Terminal at 6:05 a.m.

YRT is also adjusting the schedules of the route Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

Decreasing service along current routes


22 King City

Thursday, April 21 is the last day that YRT operates the northbound bus that currently leaves Maple GO Station at 2:10 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. Not enough passengers were traveling on this bus to justify continuing the trip.

YRT is also revising the route of the 22A branch of the route.

98 / 99 Yonge late-night

Sunday, April 17 was the last day that YRT operated the southbound buses that leave Newmarket GO Bus Terminal at 2:27 and 3:01 a.m. Sundays. Saturday, April 23 is the last day that YRT operates the southbound bus that leaves Newmarket at 1:56 a.m. Saturday. Not enough passengers were traveling on these bus to justify continuing the trips.

YRT is also adjusting the schedules of the route Saturdays and Sundays.

28 Zenway - Highway 27

Thursday, April 21 is the last day that YRT operates the southbound buses that leave Rainbow Creek Drive and Zenway Boulevard at 2:30 and 6:13 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. It’s also the last day that YRT operates the northbound buses that leave the Martin Grove / Steeles Loop at 2:23 and 5:45 p.m. Not enough passengers were traveling on these buses to justify continuing the trips.

Increasing the frequency of service along current routes


91 / 91A Bayview

Starting Monday, April 25, YRT increases the frequency of service along the 91 and 91A branches of the route Mondays to Fridays. Buses drop off and pick up passengers at all stops along the route south of Bayview Plaza every 9 minutes, instead of every 9 to 17 minutes, during rush hours. The buses serve each stop south of the plaza every 18 minutes, instead of every 19 to 21 minutes, from about 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. and after 9 p.m.

YRT is also adjusting the schedule of the route.

1 Highway 7

Starting Sunday, April 24, YRT increases the frequency of service along the route Sundays and holidays. Buses drop off and pick up passengers at each stop along the route every 45 minutes, instead of every hour, from about 8:15 until 10:30 a.m. and from about 8:30 until 11:30 p.m. They also serve each stop every 50 minutes, instead of every hour, from about 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.

YRT is also decreasing the frequency of service along the route Saturdays and adjusting the schedule of the route Monday-to-Friday evenings.

90 Leslie

Starting Sunday, April 24, YRT increases the frequency of service along the route Sundays and holidays. Buses drop off and pick up passengers at each stop along the route every 52 minutes, instead of every hour.

YRT is also increasing service along the route Saturdays, Sundays and holidays and decreasing the frequency of service along the route Saturdays.

85 / 85A Rutherford

To better blend service from buses operating along the 85 and 85A branches Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, YRT is revising the frequency of service for both branches.

Starting Sunday, April 24, YRT increases the frequency of service Sundays and holidays. Buses drop off and pick up passengers at each stop along both branches every 37 minutes, instead of every 45 minutes. Along common areas of the route between Yonge Street and Vaughan Mills, where buses serving both branches operate, buses drop off and pick up passengers every 18½ minutes, instead of every 22½ minutes Sundays and holidays.

Starting Saturday, April 30, buses operating along the 85A branch drop off and pick up passengers every 31 minutes, instead of every 40 minutes Saturdays. Along common areas of the route between Yonge Street and Vaughan Mills, where buses serving both branches operate, buses drop off and pick up passengers every 15½ minutes, instead of about every 17&frac; minutes, Sundays and holidays.

YRT is also decreasing the frequency of service along the main 85 branch of the route Saturdays, revising the route and adjusting the schedule of the route.

Decreasing the frequency of service along current routes


88 Bathurst

Starting Saturday, April 30, YRT decreases the frequency of service along the route Saturdays. Before 9 a.m. buses drop off and pick up passengers at each stop along the route every 31 minutes, instead of every 30 minutes. From about 9 a.m. until 7:30 p.m., buses serve each stop along the route every 35 minutes, instead of every 30 minutes. After 7:30 p.m., buses serve each stop every 41 minutes, instead of every 30 minutes.

1 Highway 7

Starting Saturday, April 30, YRT decreases the frequency of service along the route Saturdays. Buses drop off and pick up passengers at each stop along the route every 38 minutes, instead of every 30 minutes, from about 7 until 10 a.m. and from about 7 p.m. Saturdays until 1 a.m. Sundays. They also serve ach stop every 32 minutes, instead of every 30 minutes from about 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.

YRT is also increasing the frequency of service along the route Sundays and holidays and adjusting the schedule of the route Monday-to-Friday evenings.

20 Jane - Concord

To accommodate diverting buses into Canada’s Wonderland, YRT is also slightly decreasing the frequency of service along the route Mondays to Fridays.

Starting Monday, April 25, buses drop off and pick up passengers from each stop along the route every 18 minutes, instead of every 17 minutes, Mondays to Fridays during morning rush hours. They serve each stop every 30 minutes, instead of every 28 minutes, from about 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. They serve each stop every 19 minutes, instead of every 18 minutes, during afternoon rush hours and until about 10 p.m. They serve each stop every 30 minutes, instead of every 27 minutes, after 10 p.m.

90 Leslie

Starting Saturday, April 30, YRT decreases the frequency of service along the route Saturdays. Buses drop off and pick up passengers at each stop along the route every 33 minutes, instead of every 30 minutes.

YRT is also increasing service along the route Saturdays, Sundays and holidays and increasing the frequency of service along the route Sundays and holidays.

2 Milliken

YRT is decreasing the frequency of service along the route Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

Starting Sunday, April 24, buses drop off and pick up passengers at each stop along the route every 65 minutes, instead of every hour Sundays and holidays. Starting Saturday, April 30, buses drop off and pick up passengers every 32 minutes, instead of every 30 minutes Saturdays.

85 / 85A Rutherford / 16th Avenue

To better blend service from buses operating along the 85 and 85A branches Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, YRT is revising the frequency of service for both branches.

Starting Saturday, April 29, YRT decreases the frequency of service Saturdays. Buses drop off and pick up passengers from each stop along the 85 branch every 31 minutes, instead of every 30 minutes.

YRT is also increasing the frequency of service along the two branches at other times of the weekend. It’s also revising the route and adjusting the schedule of the route.

10 York U - Woodbridge

Since fewer passengers travel to and from York University’s Keele Campus after the end of the winter term, YRT’s decreasing the frequency of service along the route.

Starting Monday, April 25, buses drop off and pick up passengers at each stop along the route every 45 minutes, instead of every 30 minutes, Mondays to Fridays.

Revising current routes


20 Jane - Concord

Starting Sunday, April 24, YRT buses operating along the route in both directions divert to the Canada’s Wonderland terminal. Buses continue to serve Canada’s Wonderland seven days a week throughout out the park’s season, reverting to their regular route in October.

YRT is also decreasing the frequency of service along the route.

22A King City

Starting Monday, April 25, YRT revises the route through York University’s Keele Campus to accommodate upcoming subway construction in the area.

Southbound buses operate along their current route to York and Ian Macdonald Boulevards, then proceed:

southward along Ian Macdonald to a new stop south of the Harry W. Arthurs Common.

Northbound buses start at the new stop on the west side of Ian Macdonald Boulevard, south of the Common, then proceed:

southward along Ian Macdonald; eastward along The Pond Road; and then northward along Keele Street to Steeles Avenue West,
resuming their current route northward along Keele.

YRT is also decreasing service along the main branch of the route.

444 Langstaff high school special

Starting Monday, April 24, buses no longer drop off and pick up passengers at Langstaff GO Station.

87 Langstaff - Maple

Starting Sunday, April 24, buses no longer stop at Langstaff GO Station. Passengers wishing to transfer to and from GO trains can use the pedestrian bridge between the GO station and YRT’s Richmond Hill Centre Terminal.

85 / 85A / 85B Rutherford - 16th Avenue

Starting Monday, April 25, buses operating along the main 85 branch of the route no longer enter the bus terminal at Rutherford GO Station to drop off and pick up passengers Mondays to Fridays during rush hours. Buses operating along the 85A and 85B branches continue to serve the stop at the station.

YRT is also increasing the frequency and decreasing the frequency of service along the route and adjusting the schedule of the route.

Extending current routes


303 Bur Oak express

Starting Monday, April 25, extends the route westward. Buses start and end their trips at Bur Oak Avenue and Kennedy Road, instead of Bur Oak and McCowan Road.

Southbound buses leave Kennedy five minutes earlier than they currently leave McCowan. The buses start their trips at 6:25, 6:45, 6:55 and 7 a.m.

YRT is also increasing service along the route.

77 Highway 7 / Centre

Starting Monday, April 25, YRT extends the route of the westbound buses that leave Finch GO Bus Terminal at 6:22 and 6:52 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. Currently, the buses arrive at Highways 7 and 50 at 7:18 and 7:48 p.m., then go out of service. Starting next week, the buses will operate around the Zenway loop — northward along Highway 50, eastward along Zenway Boulevard; and then southward along Vaughan Valley Drive, before ending their trips at Highway 7.

10 York U - Woodbridge

Viva blue

Starting Monday, April 25, YRT adjusts the schedule of the route so that the northbound bus that currently leaves the Finch GO Bus Terminal at 3:37 p.m. Mondays to Fridays operates along the main Viva blue route instead of the “A” branch of the route. The bus arrives in the Richmond Hill Centre Terminal at 3:59 p.m. and the Newmarket GO Bus Terminal at 4:55 p.m.

YRT is also increasing service along the route.

Viva blue “A”

Starting Monday, April 25, YRT adjusts the schedule of the route so that the northbound bus that currently leaves the Finch GO Bus Terminal at 3:37 p.m. Mondays to Fridays operates along the main Viva blue route instead of the “A” branch of the route. The bus arrives in the Richmond Hill Centre Terminal at 3:59 p.m. and the Newmarket GO Bus Terminal at 4:55 p.m.

Starting Monday, April 25, southbound buses leave Newmarket GO Bus Terminal at 5:55, 6, 6:08, 6:16, 6:23, 6:28, 6:40, 6:48, 6:56, 7:12, 7:40, 7:56, 8:12 and 8:28 a.m.

Northbound buses leave Finch GO Bus Terminal at 4:01, 4:24, 4:40, 4:56, 5:08, 5:16, 5:32, 5:48, 6:04, 6:12 and 6:20 p.m.

86 Weldrick - Newkirk

To improve service for passengers transferring from the GO Transit bus that arrives in the Richmond Hill GO Station bus terminal at 9:25 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, YRT is adjusting the schedule of the northbound bus that currently leaves Bathurst Street and Weldrick Road at 9 p.m.

The bus leaves five minutes later at 9:05 p.m. Mondays to Fridays and arrives in Richmond Hill GO Station terminal at 9:25 p.m. The bus ends its trip at Yonge Street and Jefferson Forest Drive at 9:54 p.m. The bus then drops off passengers at stops along Jefferson Forest and Shadow Falls Drives, before returning to Yonge Street, ending its trip at 9:58 p.m.

99 Yonge

Starting Sunday, April 25, YRT adjusts the schedules of the route Saturdays, Sundays and holidays to better reflect the actual time for bus drivers to complete each trip along the route. Adjusting the schedule also improves the reliability of the service.

The first southbound bus leaves Bernard Terminal at 5:18 a.m. Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. The last bus leaves Bernard at 12:09 a.m.

The first northbound bus leaves Finch GO Bus Terminal at 5:56 a.m. The last bus leaves at 10:24 p.m.

98/99 Yonge late-night

Starting Sunday, April 24, YRT adjusts the schedule of buses operating along the route early Saturday, Sunday and holiday mornings.

The first southbound bus that currently leaves Green Lane and Yonge Street at 12:04 a.m. Saturdays, Sundays and holidays leaves 12 minutes later at 12:16 a.m.. The last southbound bus leaves Green and Yonge at 2:04 a.m.

The first northbound bus that currently leaves Finch GO Bus Terminal at 10:43 p.m. leaves 11 minutes later at 10:54 p.m.
