Waterloo Region hosts public information events
on funding rapid transit, April 30, May 3, 4, 5, 10, 14 18

After a series of events to consult with the public on their plans, Region of Waterloo staff presented the option they prefer for building rapid transit in the region at a meeting of the Planning and Infrastructure Committee on Tuesday, April 12.

They presented a plan for the Region to build light rail transit in two phases between Conestoga Mall in Waterloo to the Ainslie Street Terminal in Cambridge. The first phase of the line would stretch between Conestoga Mall and the Fairview Park Mall in south Kitchener, while rapid buses would connect Fairview with Cambridge.

Now the Region will host another series of information displays and open houses to find out what you think about how to fund building the line. They’ll describe three scenarios — all of which require the region to increase property taxes every year for several years — to support the project.

You can have your say about the implementing the project, offer your comments and ideas or ask questions by visiting information booths in malls and other public sites on Saturdays, April 30 and May 14 and public information meetings on Tuesday, May 3, Wednesday, May 4, Thursday, May 5, Tuesday, May 10, Thursday, May 12 and Wednesday, May 18.
