Guelph Transit is operating free shuttle bus service to get you to and from the event on Saturday.

Southbound buses leave Guelph Lake Nature Centre Parking lot at 9:21 a.m. and every 40 minutes until 2:01 p.m. Saturday, April 30. They arrive in St. George’s Square at the stop in front of the Royal Bank on Quebec Street at 9:38 a.m. and every 40 minutes until 2:18 p.m.

Northbound buses leave St. George’s Square at 9 a.m. and every 40 minutes until 1:40 p.m. They pass Victoria Road North and Woodlawn Road East at 9:12 a.m. and every 40 minutes until 1:52 p.m. They arrive at Lakeside Church Parking lot at 9:18 a.m. and every 40 minutes until 1:58 p.m.

Saturday mornings from May 1 until October 29 to accommodate the weekly market.

From 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, May 1, inbound buses operate along their regular route to Victoria Avenue North and Peel Street, then detour:

southward along Cambridge Street North; and then

Khalsa Parade

The City of Mississauga is closing

  • Morning Star Drive between Airport Road and Highway 427

and the Region of Peel is closing

  • Airport Road (Regional Road 7), south of Morning Star Drive

on Sunday afternoon to accommodate Ontario Gurdwaras Association’s annual parade.

(Parade participants march from Sri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara at 7280 Airport Road in Malton to the Sikh Spiritual Centre at 9 Carrier Drive in Rexdale, so this event also affects transit service in northwestern Toronto. In previous years, the parade attracted more than 40,000 participants.)

GO Transit, MiWay and the TTC are detouring bus service during the event. The event may also affect Brampton Transit service.

Brampton Transit

(Brampton Transit is stationing on-road supervisors to monitor the progress of the parade and, if necessary, detour buses.

30 Airport Road

From noon until 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, the parade may delay, or require Brampton Transit to detour, buses at Airport Road and Morning Star Drive and at the Westwood Terminal.

5 Bovaird

From noon until 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, the parade may delay, or require Brampton Transit to detour, buses at Goreway and Morning Star Drives and at the Westwood Terminal.

34 Brampton - York Mills local via Dixon

From noon until 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Steeles Avenue East and Airport Road, then detour:

eastward along Steeles Avenue East,
south- and eastward along Finch Avenue;
southward along Highway 427; and then
westward along Highway 409 to Toronto Pearson International Airport Terminal 3,
resuming their regular route.

From 1 until 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Bramalea Road South and Highway 407, then detour:

southward along Highway 427;
westward along Derry Road East; and then
southward into Malton GO Station bus terminal,
resuming their regular routes.

Westbound buses reverse the detour routing.

7 Airport

From 1 until 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, southbound buses start their trips in the Westwood Terminal as usual, then detour:
southward through the Westwood Mall parking lot,
exiting onto Goreway Drive south of Morning Star Drive;
southward along Goreway; and then
westward along Derry Road West to Airport Road,
resuming their regular route southward along Airport.

Northbound buses operate along their regular route to Airport and Derry Roads, then detour:

northward through the Westwood Mall parking lot to Westwood Terminal,
ending their trips.

The Town of Oakville is closing

on Sunday morning for the sixth annual race, supporting the Oakville Hospital Foundation.

Oakville Transit is detouring buses during the event.

The Region of Durham and the City of Oshawa are closing

  • Centre Street South between King and John Streets West,

  • Simcoe Street South between John and King Streets East

on Sunday morning to accommodate the Oshawa Naval Veterans Club’s annual event.

GO Transit is detouring its buses in downtown Oshawa during the parade, and the event also likely affects Durham Region Transit service.

DRT has not announced detours, but from 10 until 11:45 a.m. on Sunday, May 1, southbound passengers should expect detours or delays along Centre Street South between King and John Streets West.

northward along Stevenson Road North;
eastward along Adelaide Avenues West and East;
southward along Ritson Roads North and South; and then
westward along Olive Avenue to Simcoe Street South,
resuming their regular route southward along Simcoe South.

southeastward along Albion;

Ontario Police Memorial Foundation Ceremony of Remembrance

The City of Toronto is closing

  • Queen’s Park Crescent East south of Wellesley Street West and
  • Queen’s Park Crescent West south of Wellesley Street West

to accommodate the annual parade and memorial ceremony at the Ontario Police Memorial just north of Grosvenor Street on Sunday morning. The event may affect TTC service.

5 Avenue Rd

From 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, expect delays near Queen’s Park. Although the TTC has not announced detours, buses likely loop along Wellesley Street West, instead of completely around the circle at Queen’s Park.

Southbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Queen’s Park Crescent West at Hart House and the University of Toronto library and
  • on Queen’s Park Crescent East north of College Street.

Instead southbound buses drop off passengers at a temporary stop

  • on Wellesley Street West at the Ontario Legislature Building.

Northbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Queen’s Park Crescent East north of College Street and at Wellesley Street West.

Instead northbound buses pick up passengers at a temporary stop

  • on Wellesley Street West at the Ontario Legislature Building.

Sporting Life 10K

The City of Toronto is closing

  • Yonge Street between Lawrence and Erskine Avenues

from about 5 until 9 a.m. Sunday while organizers set up the starting line for the event, and form participants into “waves” or groups.

It’s also closing all lanes of

  • Yonge Street between Roselawn Avenue and Adelaide Street

after 7:30 a.m. Sunday. Participants leave the starting point in five waves between 8 and 8:25 a.m. All participants should clear Yonge Street by 9 a.m.

During the race, the City is also closing

  • Richmond Street West between Yonge and Peter Streets,
  • Peter Street / Blue Jays Way between Richmond and Front Streets West and
  • Front Street West between Blue Jays Way and Bathurst Street.

from about 8 until 10 a.m.

Toronto Police Service officers will close the streets to allow participants to pass along the route. After all participants have cleared the roadways, the police will reopen the streets.

The City is also closing a number of streets near Exhibition Place from about 5 a.m. until 1 p.m. Sunday so that organizers can set up the finish-line area, including

  • Bathurst Street between Front Street West and Fleet Street,
  • Fleet Street between Strachan Avenue and
  • Fort York Boulevard between Fleet and Bathurst Streets.

Also in the finish-line area, Exhibition Place is closing:

  • Princes’ Boulevard between Newfoundland Drive and Strachan Avenue

from about 5 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Race participants help raise funds to support Camp Oochiegeas, a camp for children with cancer.

The event results in a severe impact on TTC service, especially for streetcars and buses operating along Yonge, Bathurst and Fleet Streets or into and out of Eglinton and Davisville Stations. Police officers are helping the TTC maintain transit service on bus and streetcar routes intersecting with the race route. Buses and streetcars operate through gaps between groups of participants, when they can safely do so.

A special westbound train leaves Exhibition GO Station about 30 minutes after the end of the event, late Saturday, April 30 or early Sunday, May 1making all stops to Aldershot GO Station, where passengers can connect to a GO bus to Hamilton.

09 Lakeshore East

The two westbound trains, leaving Oshawa GO Station at 11:41 a.m. and 1:41 p.m. Saturday, April 30, continue to Exhibition GO Station, instead of ending their trips at Union Station. The trains arrive in the Exhibition Station at about 12:50 and 1:50 p.m.

A special eastbound train leaves Exhibition GO Station about 30 minutes after the end of the event, late Saturday, April 30 or early Sunday, May 1making all stops to Oshawa GO Station, where passengers can connect to a GO bus to Newcastle.

18 Hamilton - Aldershot

A special westbound bus leaves Aldershot GO Station about 90 minutes after the end of the event early Sunday, May 1. The bus makes all stops to the Hamilton GO Centre. The bus waits at Aldershot for the special post-event train operating along the 01 Lakeshore West line.

90 Newcastle - Oshawa

A special eastbound bus leaves Oshawa GO Station about 90 minutes after the end of the event early Sunday, May 1. The bus makes all stops to Newcastle. The bus waits at Oshawa for the special post-event train operating along the 01 Lakeshore East line.
