GRT detours buses during Main Street Galt construction,
May 3 to July 15



The City of Cambridge is closing

  • Main Street between Water and Ainslie Streets

in the Galt City Centre, for a project to rebuild the roadway and improve the streetscape, starting tomorrow, Tuesday, May 2, until Friday, July 15.

Grand River Transit is detouring buses operating along the 55 St. Andrews, 57 Blair Road and 111 Conestoga College - Ainslie St express routes, while the street is closed.


57 Blair Road

From Tuesday, May 3 until Friday, July 15, inbound buses operate along their regular route to St. Andrews Street and Grand Avenue South, then detour:

southward along Grand South;
eastward along Concession Street; and then
northward along Ainslie Street South to the Ainslie Street Terminal,
ending their trips.

Inbound buses skip their regular stop

  • on Main Street at Mill Street.

Instead, inbound buses drop off and pick up passengers at a temporary stop

  • on Ainslie Street South across from Veterans Drive.

Outbound buses start their trips at the Ainslie Street Terminal, as usual, then proceed:

southward along Ainslie Street South;
westward along Concession Street; and then
northward along Grand Avenue South to North Square,
resuming their regular route westward around the Square.

Outbound buses skip their regular stop

  • on Main Street at Water Street North.

Instead, outbound buses drop off and pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Ainslie Street South at Walnut Street,
  • on Grand Avenue South at South Square.
111 Conestoga College - Ainslie St express

From Tuesday, May 3 until Friday, July 15, inbound buses operate along their regular route to George Street North and Park Hill Road, then detour:

eastward along Park Hill; and then
southward along Ainslie Streets North and South to the Ainslie Street Terminal,
ending their trips.

Outbound buses reverse the detour routing.

Buses serve all regular stops.

55 St. Andrews

Sundays and holidays only from Sunday, May 8 until Sunday, July 10, inbound buses operate along their regular route to St. Andrews Street and Grand Avenue South, then detour:

southward along Grand South;
eastward along Concession Street; and then
northward along Ainslie Street South to the Ainslie Street Terminal,
ending their trips.

Inbound buses skip their regular Sunday-and-holiday stops

  • on Grand Avenue South at South Square and
  • on Main Street at Mill Street.

Instead, inbound buses drop off and pick up passengers at a temporary stop

  • on Ainslie Street South across from Veterans Drive.

Outbound buses reverse the detour routing.

Outbound buses skip their regular Sunday-and-holiday stops

  • on Main Street at Water Street North and
