Fire at the TTC's Mount Dennis Garage
delays west-end bus service this afternoon

This afternoon, through the rush hour, TTC passengers should expect delays of as much as 20 minutes on most buses operating west of Yonge Street.

Earlier today, a bus engine caught fire at Mount Dennis Garage. According to CTV Toronto News, the TTC evacuated the garage when the fire broke out around noon and no-one was injured.

While TTC staff haven’t yet evaluated the full extent of damage, the TTC will not use 30 buses in the garage that smell of smoke this afternoon and evening.

Mount Dennis can house 100 buses, and the TTC uses 78 during rush hour.

The TTC will bring in extra buses from other garages to replace the 30 damaged buses, resulting in delays on most west-end bus routes.
