Looking inside McCowan Carhouse: TTC tour, June 11

If you missed yesterday’s Doors Open event when the TTC allowed visitors a rare opportunity to peek inside the McCowan Carhouse, the TTC’s giving you a second chance. On Saturday, June 11, it’s conducting another tour of the maintenance facility for the rapid transit vehicles operating along the 3 Scarborough RT line. Forty employees perform corrective, preventive and running maintenance on the fleet of 28 vehicles. They also clean and service every car every day.

The tour takes place at 10 a.m.

You need to register in advance to take the tour, but you must pay cash at the door. Space is limited to just 20 people, so you should arrive early. Meet the guide at the gatehouse. You must bring a valid photo ID card.

The TTC is conducting another tour of the carhouse later this year and McCowan is also one of the sites that TTC is opening to the public during this weekend’s Doors Open Toronto event. It has also scheduled tours of other TTC facilities.

  • Transfer to eastbound buses operating along the 133 Neilson or 38 Highland Creek routes.
