You can use PRESTO cards at Pickering GO Station,
starting today

You can use PRESTO fare cards at Pickering GO Station, starting today, Thursday, June 2, as Pickering becomes the next PRESTO “agency” at a GO station.

At a PRESTO agency, you can

  • buy a PRESTO card,
  • “load” value onto your card,
  • check your balance and
  • make various other transactions.

At Pickering GO Station, you can use your PRESTO card to pay fares on all GO Transit trains serving the station. You can’t use the card to pay your fare on Durham Region Transit or GO buses.

Until Wednesday, June 29, you can visit Pickering GO Station to trade your 10-ride ticket or monthly pass for a PRESTO card free. Present your ticket or pass to the station attendant and the attendant will transfer any balance to a PRESTO card and waive the usual the $6 issuance fee.

Read Transit Toronto’s June 4, 2010 post for more information about using PRESTO cards on GO trains.

Pickering is the last Lakeshore East GO station to receive PRESTO equipment. Starting today, you can use the cards at all stations along the 01 Lakeshore West, 09 Lakeshore East, 21 Milton, 65 Barrie and 71 Stouffville lines. You can also use the cards at all stations along the 31 Georgetown line except Brampton GO Station.
