Toronto Transit Commission meets, June 8

The Toronto Transit Commission meets this Wednesday, June 8 at 1 p.m.

The meeting takes place in Committee Room 3, second floor, Toronto City Hall, 100 Queen Street West.

Among other items, the Commissioners will discuss staff reports

  • recommending that the TTC proceed with plans to rebuild the streetcar tracks along Queens Quay West as soon as possible, without waiting for WATERFRONToronto to secure funding for its project to redesign the streetscape. (This means that the TTC won’t be moving the streetcar tracks southward, as the redesign plan requires.) (You can read the report here. (.pdf))
  • forecasting issues for the 2012 budget, including the capital budget (here - .pdf), the operating budget (here - .pdf) and the WheelTrans budget (here - .pdf) (Basically, the TTC is predicting that it faces an operating shortfall of $39 million in 2012.)

The Commissioners will also consider a report on setting up an electronic fare collection system — such as PRESTO — on the TTC, but that report wasn’t yet available for the public to view.
