TTC revises routes and services, June 19

Note — We’ve gathered the information for this post from three sources:

“Summertime and the living is easy…” and the transit service is, well, different.

The TTC operates less service along many routes because fewer passengers travel by transit in the summer. Fewer people want to get to and from universities, colleges and high schools and many people take time off work.

On the other hand, the TTC also operates more service along other routes. Those that are out of school or off work want to travel to the beach and waterfront, to in-town events and attractions — or to the airport to fly to out-of-town events and attractions.

The TTC is making extensive changes to its service, starting next Sunday, June 19 to reflect this summer change in travel patterns. It will end the summer service and resume regular service Tuesday, September 6.

The changes affect these routes: 2 Bloor - Danforth subway; 3 Scarborough rapid transit; 6 Bay; 7 Bathurst; 9 Bellamy; 11 Bayview; 12 Kingston Rd; 15 Evans; 16 McCowan; 17 Birchmount; 20 Cliffside; 21 Brimley; 22 Coxwell; 23 Dawes; 24 Victoria Park; 25 Don Mills; 26 Dupont; 28 Davisville; 30 Lambton; 32 Eglinton West; 34 Eglinton East; 35 Jane; 35E Jane express; 36 Finch West; 37 Islington; 38 Highland Creek; 39 Finch East; 41 Keele; 41E Keele express; 42 Cummer; 44 Kipling South; 45 Kipling; 45E Kipling express; 46 Martin Grove; 48 Rathburn; 49 Bloor West; 50 Burnhamthorpe; 51 Leslie; 52 Lawrence West; 54 Lawrence East; 56 Leaside; 57 Midland; 58 Malton; 59 Maple Leaf; 60E Steeles West express; 61 Avenue Rd North; 63 Ossington; 64 Main; 67 Pharmacy; 68 Warden; 69 Warden South; 71 Runnymede; 72 Pape; 72A Pape via Commissioners; 72B Pape via Commissioners & Cherry Beach; 75 Sherbourne; 76 Royal York South; 77 Swansea; 79 Scarlett Rd; 81 Thorncliffe Park; 85 Sheppard East; 86 Scarborough; 86E Scarborough express; 88 South Leaside; 90 Vaughan; 91 Woodbine; 92 Woodbine South; 95 York Mills; 95E York Mills express; 96 Wilson; 96E Wilson express; 104 Faywood; 108 Downsview; 109 Ranee; 112 West Mall; 113 Danforth; 116 Morningside; 116A / E Morningside local / express; 117 Alness; 122 Graydon Hall; 123 Shorncliffe; 131 Nugget; 132 Milner; 139 Finch - Don Mills; 161 Rogers Rd; 168 Symington; 190 Scarborough Centre rocket; 191 Highway 27 rocket; 192 Airport rocket; 196 York University rocket; 199 Finch rocket; 502 Downtowner; 503 Kingston Rd; 504 King; 505 Dundas; 506 Carlton; 509 Harbourfront; 510 Spadina; 511 Bathurst.

Transit agencies can save resources - meaning the number of drivers and vehicles they require to operate effective service - by interlining two or more routes sharing a common terminal.

For example, a bus operating along the 112 West Mall will arrive at Kipling Station Saturdays from about 10 a.m. until 6:30 p.m., then continue along the 30B Lambton route into High Park. The bus then returns to Kipling Station along the 30B route, then leaves the station again, to operate along the 112 West Mall route.
