YRT detours buses in downtown Newmarket, June 20 to 23



The Town of Newmarket is closing

  • Water Street at Doug Duncan Drive,to build part of the Community Urban Space Project (CUSP).

from Monday, June 20 until Thursday, June 23.

York Region Transit is detouring buses operating along the 54 Bayview and 56 Gorham - Eagle routes while the street is closed.


54 Bayview

From Monday, June 20 until Thursday, June 23, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Main Street South and Queen Street, then detour:

eastward along Queen; and then
southward along Prospect Street to Water Street / Gorham Drive,
resuming their regular route southward along Prospect.

Southbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Main Street South at Botsford Street and
  • on Water Street across from Doug Duncan Drive.

Northbound buses reverse the detour routing.

Northbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Water Street west of Doug Duncan Drive and
  • on Main Street South across from Botsford Street and at Queen Street.
56 Gorham - Eagle

From Monday, June 20 until Thursday, June 23, westbound buses operate along their regular route to Gorham Drive and Prospect Street, then detour:

northward along Prospect;
westward along Queen Street; and then
southward along Main Street South to Water Street,
resuming their regular route westward along Water.

Westbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Water Street west of Doug Duncan Drive.

Instead, westbound buses drop off and pick up passengers at a temporary stop

  • on Main Street South at Botsford Street.

Eastbound buses reverse the detour routing.
