TTC ends Roncesvalles streetcar track construction early

Yesterday, Saturday, June 25 at 4 p.m., the TTC ended its long-term project to rebuild the streetcar tracks on Roncesvalles Avenue, and officially reopened the tracks to streetcar service.

The TTC originally planned to end the work — at least for this year — on Saturday, July 30. However, the project to upgrade the tracks, improve the streetscape and replace watermains has continued off and on at least since July 20, 2009.

Since the TTC has already reassigned the streetcars it would have used to again extend the 504 King route along Roncesvalles, passengers can’t expect regular service to resume until Sunday, July 30.

In the meantime, cars heading to and from the Roncesvalles Carhouse again start operating along Roncesvalles at the start and end of their service along the 306 Carlton overnight, 505 Dundas and 506 **Carlton routes.
