You can use PRESTO cards on some DRT buses,
starting June 27

Starting tomorrow, Monday, June 27, you can use PRESTO fare cards on some Durham Region Transit buses.

During DRT’s first phase of rolling out the regional fare cards, you can use PRESTO cards only if you’re traveling to and from GO stations and are transferring between DRT buses and GO Transit trains. PRESTO automatically calculates the co-fare discount when you “tap on” the card reader before boarding the GO train from a DRT Bus or “tap on” the reader on the DRT bus from GO train.

DRT is introducing single fares and multi-ride for adults, students, seniors and child fare categories at a later date. For now, DRT continues to offer and accept all fares, including DRT tickets and passes throughout 2011. The “One Fare Anywhere in Durham Region” policy stays in effect, so passengers riding GO buses should continue to use DRT paper tickets or passes until DRT fully sets up the PRESTO system. DRT has equipped all 164 buses in its fleet with PRESTO card readers.

You can learn more about PRESTO cards here.
