Burlington Transit revises Spruce Avenue detour, July 4

On Monday, July 4, the City of Burlington reopened Spruce Avenue between Kenwood Avenue and Applepy Line, part of a long-term project to replace the storm sewers.

It continues to close Spruce between Hampton Heath Road and Kenwood.

Burlington Transit is revising the detour for buses operating along the 10 New route, while the street is closed.

From Monday, July 4 until December, inbound buses operate along their regular route to Spruce and Kenwood Avenues, then detour:

southward along Kenwood; and then
eastward along Bromley Road to Hampton Heath Road,
resuming their regular route southward along Hampton Heath.

Inbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Hampton Heath Road south of Spruce Avenue and across from Croydon Road.

Outbound buses reverse the detour routing.

The City previously closed Spruce Avenue between Hampton Heath Road and Appleby Line — and Burlington Transit detoured buses — from Monday, July 12 until November 2010. This year it closed the same section of Spruce, starting Monday, March 21.
