YRT revised routes and services, starting July 3



York Region Transit gets ready for summer by eliminating extra services to high schools, increasing and decreasing the frequency of service along several routes, and revising some routes, starting Sunday, July 3.

Specifically, YRT is: increasing service along current routes; decreasing service along current routes; increasing the frequency of service along current routes; decreasing the frequency of service along current routes; revising current routes; canceling extra service to high schools; and adjusting the schedules of current routes.


Increasing service along current routes


20 Jane - Concord

Starting Saturday, July 9, YRT operates buses on two new trips late Saturday evenings to accommodate later hours at Canada’s Wonderland.

Southbound buses leave Wonderland at 11:35 p.m. Saturdays and 12:05 a.m. Sundays. Northbound buses leave York University’s Keele Campus at 10:45 and 11:15 p.m. Saturdays.

YRT is also decreasing the frequency of service along the route at other times of the week.

22 King City

Starting Monday, July 4, YRT operates a bus on a new northbound trip Monday-to-Friday mornings. The bus leaves Maple GO Station at 9:12 a.m. and arrives on Seneca College’s King Campus at 9:45 a.m.

YRT is also decreasing service and decreasing the frequency of service along the route at different times of the week.

90 / 90B Leslie

Starting Monday, July 4, YRT increases service along the 90B branch early Monday-to-Friday mornings.

Four earlier southbound buses leave West Beaver Creek Parkway and Highway 7 at 4:52, 5:10, 5:32 and 5:52 a.m. The buses arrive in the Don Mills Station bus terminal at 5:19, 5:37, 5:59 and 6:19 a.m.

YRT is also decreasing service and decreasing the frequency of service along the route at different times of the week.

31 Aurora North

Wednesday, June 29 was the last day until September that YRT operated the northbound buses that left Wellington Street East and John West Way (near St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Secondary School) at 2:40 p.m. and Aurora High School at 3:06 p.m. Mondays to Fridays.

High school service resumes Tuesday, September 6.

32 Aurora South

Wednesday, June 29 was the last day until September that YRT operated the northbound bus that leaves Wellington Street East and Industrial Parkway at 2:35 p.m. Mondays to Fridays.

Starting Thursday, June 30, the southbound bus that leaves Bayview Avenue and Stone Road at 7:21 a.m. Mondays to Fridays does not divert to Cardinal Carter Catholic Secondary School. The northbound bus that formerly left Cardinal Carter at 2:35 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, instead starts its trip at Bathurst Street and McClellan Way at 2:45 p.m.

High school service resumes Tuesday, September 6.

YRT is also revising the route of buses operating to and from Aurora GO Station.

44 Bristol - London

Wednesday, June 29 was the last day until September that YRT operated the northbound bus that left Newmarket GO Bus Terminal at 7:40 a.m. Mondays to Fridays and served passengers traveling to Sacred Heart Catholic High School.

Starting Monday, July 4, the southbound bus that formerly left Sacred Heart at 2:35 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, instead starts its trip at The Tannery / Newmarket GO Station at 2:38 p.m.

18 Bur Oak

Wednesday, June 29 was the last day until September that the westbound that formerly left Markham Stouffville Hospital at 7:29 a.m. Mondays to Fridays diverted along Whites Hill Avenue to pick up passengers traveling toward Bur Oak Secondary School. It’s also the last day until September that YRT operated the two eastbound buses that leave Bur Oak Secondary School at 3:10 p.m.

Increasing the frequency of service along current routes


88 / 88A / 88E Bathurst

Starting Sunday, July 3, YRT increases the frequency of service along the route Sunday-and-holiday mornings.

Buses drop off and pick up passengers at each stop along the route every 39 minutes, instead of every 45 minutes, before noon Sundays and holidays. They serve each stop along the route every 40 minutes, instead of every 45 minutes after 7 p.m.

It’s also decreasing the frequency of service along the route at other times of the week.

1 Highway 7

Starting Monday, July 4, YRT increases the frequency of service along the route Mondays to Fridays.

Buses drop off and pick up passengers at each stop along the route every 28 minutes, instead of every 30 minutes, Mondays to Fridays before 6 a.m. They continue to serve each stop every 20 minutes from 6 until 7:30 a.m., but serve stops every 18 minutes, instead of every 20 minutes, from 7:30 until 9 a.m.

They serve each stop every 26 minutes, instead of every 30 minutes, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. They serve each stop every 19 minutes, instead of every 20 minutes, from 3 until 7 p.m., every 29 minutes, instead of every 30 minutes, from 7 until 10 p.m. and every 27 minutes, instead of every 30 minutes, after 10 p.m.

13 Islington

Starting Monday, July 4, YRT increases the frequency of service along the route Mondays to Fridays during rush hours.

Buses drop off and pick up passengers at each stop along the route every 19 minutes, instead of every 23 minutes, during morning rush hours. They serve each stop every 21 minutes, instead of every 22 minutes, during afternoon rush hours.

Starting Saturday, July 9, it’s increasing the frequency of service along the route Saturdays after 7 p.m.

Buses drop off and pick up passengers every 50 minutes, instead of every hour, Saturday evenings.

It’s also decreasing the frequency of service along the route and adjusting the schedule of the route at different times of the week.

4 Major Mackenzie

Starting Sunday, July 3, YRT increases the frequency of service along the route to improve service to and from Canada’s Wonderland, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Buses drop off and pick up passengers at each stop along the route every 25 minutes, instead of every 30 minutes.

Viva green

Starting Monday, July 4, buses drop off and pick up passengers at each stop along the route every 15½ minutes, instead of every 15 minutes, Mondays to Fridays during rush hours.

YRT is also adjusting the schedule of the route.


Decreasing the frequency of service along current routes


88 / 88A / 88E Bathurst

Starting Monday, July 4, YRT decreases the frequency of service along the route Mondays to Fridays after 9 a.m.

Buses drop off and pick up passengers at each stop along the route every 30 minutes, instead of every 28 minutes, Mondays to Fridays from about 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. They serve each stop along the route every 16 minutes, instead of every 16 minutes, instead of every 14 minutes, during afternoon rush hours. They serve each stop every 38 minutes, instead of every 37 minutes, after 8 p.m.

It’s also increasing the frequency of service along the route at other times of the week.

13 Islington

Starting Monday, July 4, YRT decreases the frequency of service along the route Mondays to Fridays from about 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. and Saturdays before 7 p.m.

Buses drop off and pick up passengers from each stop along the route every 50 minutes, instead of every 45 minutes, Monday-to-Friday midday and Saturday daytime.

It’s also increasing the frequency of service along the route and adjusting the schedule of the route at different times of the week.

Revising current routes


32 Aurora South

Starting Monday, July 4, YRT revises the route so that southbound buses serving Aurora GO Station operate along their regular route to Wellington Street East and Industrial Parkway, then proceed:

southward along Industrial Parkway South; and then
east- and northward along Mary Street to Wellington Street East,
resuming their regular route westward along Wellington East.

Southbound buses serving Aurora GO Station stop

  • on Industrial Parkway South beside Aurora GO Station and at Mary Street and
  • on Mary Street at Wellington Street East

They skip their former stop

  • on Wellington Street East at Mary Street.

All other southbound buses along the route - that don’t operate to Aurora GO Station - continue to stop on Wellington East at Mary.

Southbound buses also drop off and pick up passengers at stop #6093 on Wellington Street East between John West Way and Industrial Parkway North both before and after serving the GO Station. They stop on Wellington East at Industrial North only after serving the station.

Northbound buses serving Aurora GO Station operate along their regular route to Wellington Street East and Industrial Parkway, then proceed:

southward along Industrial Parkway South; and then
east- and northward along Mary Street to Wellington Street East,
resuming their regular route westward along Wellington East.

Northbound buses serving Aurora GO Station stop

  • on Industrial Parkway South beside Aurora GO Station and at Mary Street and
  • on Mary Street at Wellington Street East

They skip their former stop

  • on Wellington Street East at Mary Street.

All other southbound buses along the route - that don’t operate to Aurora GO Station - continue to stop on Wellington East at Mary.

51 Keswick local

Starting Monday, July 4, YRT revises the route so that buses operate into the Keswick Marketplace. Buses no longer stop at the South Keswick Commuter Parking Lot. Parking lot passengers can board buses at stop #6299 at the southwest corner of Woodbine and Glenwoods Avenues.

522 Markham community bus

Starting Monday, July 4, westbound buses operate to Tony Wong Place at 25 Deverill Court.

The buses operate along their former route to Kennedy Road and Duffield Drive, then proceed:

westward along Duffield;
southward along Deverill Court to Tony Wong Place, turning around and then continuing
northward along Deverill; and then
eastward along Duffield to Kennedy,
resuming their former route southward along Kennedy.

YRT is not adjusting the schedule.

222 Aurora - Newmarket GO shuttle

Starting Monday, July 4, the bus that formerly left the 404 Town Centre at 5:55 a.m. Mondays to Fridays leaves five minutes earlier at 5:50 a.m. The earlier trip improves service for passengers connecting with a GO Transit train at Aurora GO Station.

Starting Monday, July 4, eastbound buses start their trips (and westbound buses end their trips) at stop #1655 on the northeast corner of Denison Street and Woodbine Avenue, instead of stop #3272 on the southeast corner of Woodbine Avenue and John Street.

Starting Monday, July 4, YRT is adjusting the Monday-to-Friday schedules to better reflect the actual time that drivers require to complete a trip along the route and improve the reliability of the service.

34 Industrial Parkway

Starting Monday, July 4, the southbound bus that formerly left Bayview Avenue and St. John’s Sideroad East at 7:15 a.m. leaves five minutes earlier at 7:10 a.m. The earlier trip improves service for passengers connecting with the GO Transit train at Aurora GO Station.

Starting Monday, July 4, YRT is adjusting the Monday-to-Saturday schedules to better reflect the actual time that drivers require to complete a trip along the route and improve the reliability of the service.

It’s also increasing and decreasing the frequency of service along the route at different times of the week.

Starting Monday, July 4, eastbound buses end their trips (and westbound buses start their trips) at stop #1240 on the southwest corner of Denison Street and Markham Road, instead of stop#1264 on the southwest corner of Eastvale Drive and Steeles Avenue East.

Starting Monday, July 4, YRT is adjusting the Monday-to-Friday schedules to better reflect the actual time that drivers require to complete a trip along the route and improve the reliability of the service. With the new schedule, buses leave their terminals at the same time as they did formerly and drop off and pick up passengers from each stop along the route as frequently as formerly.

YRT is decreasing the travel time for each trip between Markham Stouffville Hospital and Parkview Village from 15 minutes to 10 minutes.

YRT has adjusted the schedules for buses operating along the route seven days a week to improve the reliability of service.

Starting Sunday, July 3, the northbound bus that formerly left Finch GO Bus Terminal at 12:43 a.m. Mondays and the days after a statutory holidays leaves four minutes earlier at 12:39 a.m.

Starting Saturday, July 9, the southbound bus that formerly left Newmarket GO Bus Terminal at 11:35 p.m. Saturdays leaves ten minutes later at 11:45 p.m. The **northbound bus that formerly left Finch GO Bus Terminal at 12:42 a.m. Sundays leaves 12 minutes later at 12:54 a.m.

YRT has adjusted the schedule for buses operating along the route Mondays to Fridays to improve the reliability of the service.

Starting Monday, July 3, the northbound bus that formerly left Finch GO Bus Terminal at 4:01 p.m. Mondays to Fridays leaves four minutes earlier at 3:57 p.m.

YRT is also operating a bus on a new northbound trip. The bus leaves Finch GO Bus Terminal at 6:32 p.m.

It has updated the schedule for all northbound buses leaving Finch GO Bus Terminal toward Newmarket GO Bus Terminal. The buses leave Finch at 3:57, 4:24, 4:40, 4:56, 5:08, 5:16, 5:32, 5:48, 6:04, 6:12, 6:20 and 6:32 p.m.

Starting Monday, July 4, the southbound bus that formerly left the 14th Avenue vivastation at 5:52 a.m. Mondays to Fridays leaves two minutes later at 5:54 a.m.

The southbound bus that formerly left 14th Avenue at 2:23 p.m. Mondays to Fridays leaves two minutes earlier at 2:21 p.m. The bus that left McCowan vivastation at 6:40 p.m. leaves five minutes later at 6:45 p.m.

The northbound bus that formerly left Warden vivastation at 5:32 a.m. Mondays to Fridays leaves two minutes earlier at 5:30 a.m. The bus that left Warden at 2:51 p.m. also leaves two minutes earlier at 2:49 p.m.

The northbound bus that formerly left Don Mills Station at 2:57 p.m. Mondays to Fridays leaves three minutes earlier at 2:54 p.m. The bus that left Don Mills at 7:27 p.m. leaves two minutes later at 7:29 p.m.

YRT is also decreasing the frequency of service along the route.

The northbound bus that formerly left Downsview Station at 5:54 a.m. Mondays to Fridays leaves four minutes earlier at 5:47 a.m.

Starting Monday, July 4, the westbound bus that formerly left Unionville GO Station at 5:38 a.m. Mondays to Fridays leaves one minute later at 5:39 a.m. The westbound bus that left Unionville GO at 9:38 a.m. leaves three minutes later at 9:41 a.m.

The eastbound bus that formerly left Richmond Hill Centre Terminal at 5:10 a.m. Mondays to Fridays leaves one minute earlier at 5:09 a.m. The **southbound bus that left Richmond Hill Centre at 3:03 p.m. leaves six minutes earlier at 2:57 p.m.

The northbound bus that formerly left Finch GO Bus Terminal at 3:24 p.m. Mondays to Fridays leaves four minutes earlier at 3:20 p.m. The northbound bus that formerly left Finch at 7:24 p.m. leaves four minutes earlier at 7:20 p.m.

YRT has adjusted the schedules for buses operating along the route seven days a week to improve the reliability of service and to reduce delays resulting from construction along Highway 7.

Starting Monday, July 4, YRT extends Monday-to-Friday morning rush hour service until about 10:30 a.m. Buses continue to drop off and pick up passengers at each stop along the route every 11 minutes until then.

The eastbound bus that formerly left Highway 7 and Dufferin Street at 4:35 a.m. Mondays to Fridays leaves seven minutes earlier at 4:28 a.m. The westbound bus that leaves Markham Stouffivlle Hospital at 5:32 a.m. leaves four minutes earlier at 5:28 a.m.

YRT also operates buses along new, earlier westbound trips, with the first bus leaving Keele vivastation for York University at 4:23 a.m. Mondays to Fridays.

11 Woodbridge

Starting Monday, July 4, the southbound bus that formerly left Forest Drive and Martin Grove Road at 5:45 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, instead leaves from Langstaff and Vaughan Mills Roads at 5:48 p.m.

The first southbound bus that formerly left Newmarket GO Bus Terminal at 5:05 a.m. Mondays to Fridays leaves 12 minutes earlier at 4:53 a.m. The first southbound bus that formerly left Green Lane West and Yonge Street at 5:52 a.m. leaves ten minutes earlier at 5:42 a.m.

The last southbound bus that formerly left Green Lane West and Yonge Street at 11:14 p.m. Mondays to Fridays leaves one minute later at 11:15 p.m.

The last northbound trip Monday-to-Friday mornings that formerly left Bernard Terminal at 5:40 a.m. leaves seven minutes earlier at 5:33 a.m. The last northbound trip of the day that formerly left Bernard Terminal at 11:14 p.m. Mondays to Fridays leaves two minutes later at 11:16 p.m.

Starting Saturday, July 9, the last southbound bus that formerly left Green Lane West and Yonge Street at 11:23 p.m. Saturdays leaves one minute earlier at 11:22 p.m.
