TTC rebuilds tracks at King / Bathurst, July 11 to August 15

Update — Wednesday, July 27, 11:33 a.m.: Construction the tracks ended this morning, and not Monday, July 25, as the TTC announced previously. Streetcars operating along the 504 King and 508 Lake Shore and buses operating along the 145 Downtown / Humber Bay express routes resumed regular service. Buses operating along the 310 Bathurst overnight route resume regular service at about 2 p.m. tomorrow, Thursday, July 28.

Starting Monday, July 11, the TTC is starting a project to rebuild one of its most complicated streetcar track junctions at King Street West and Bathurst Street.

(The tracks form one of just three “grand junctions” in Toronto — meaning that not only can the cars travel along the rails north, south, east and west, they can also turn left and right in any direction, too. Toronto’s two other grand junctions are at King Street West and Spadina Avenue and at Queen Street West and Spadina Avenue.)

While construction proceeds, it’s detouring streetcars operating along the 504 King, 508 Lake Shore and 511 Bathurst routes and buses operating along the 145 Downtown / Humber Bay express and 310 Bathurst overnight routes.

During construction, passengers that usually travel on board streetcars operating along the 501 Queen route should also expect significant delays, especially west of Spadina Avenue. During the construction, cars operating along four streetcar routes serve the stretch between Spadina and Bathurst Street.
