GO to refund fares if trains more than 15 minutes late

Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty and Minister of Transportation Kathleen Wynne visited GO Transit’s Willowbrook Yard today to confirm the Premier’s earlier announcement that, starting next year, GO will refund passenger fares if a train is more than 15 minutes behind schedule.

Under the 15-minute guarantee, you can receive one-way fare refund automatically through your PRESTO card or by visiting a customer sales representative in Union Station and other GO stations.

GO will refund your fare every time your train is later than 15 minutes from schedule, except when extreme weather, police investigations, accidents and medical emergencies delay the train.

A Government of Ontario media release confirms that nearly 90 per cent of GO riders who completed an online survey support the money-back guarantee.
