TTC repairs Queen streetcar tracks this weekend,
August 20, 21



The TTC is repairing the streetcar tracks at Queen Street West and York Street this weekend, Saturday, August 20 and Sunday, August 21.

During the work, it’s detouring streetcars operating along the 301 Queen overnight and 501 Queen routes. Shuttle buses replace the cars.

From 7 a.m. Saturday, August 20 until 5 a.m. Monday, August 22, eastbound cars operate along their regular route to Queen Street West and McCaul Street, then detour:

northward along McCaul;
eastward along Dundas Streets West and East; and then
southward along Victoria Street to Queen East,
resuming their regular route eastward along Queen.

Eastbound cars skip their regular stops

  • on Queen Street West at University Avenue, York, Bay and Yonge Streets and
  • on Queen Street East at Victoria Street.

Instead, eastbound cars drop off and pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on McCaul Street across from Stephanie Street,
  • on Dundas Street West at University Avenue, Chestnut, Bay and Yonge Streets and
  • on Dundas Street East at Victoria Street.

Westbound cars reverse the detour route.

Westbound cars skip their regular stops

  • on Queen Street East at Yonge Street and
  • on Queen Street West at Bay Street, across from York Street, at University Avenue, west of Simcoe Street and at McCaul Street.

Instead, westbound cars drop off and pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Dundas Street East at Yonge Street and
  • on Dundas Street West at Bay and Chestnut Streets, University Avenue and McCaul Street.

Shuttle buses replace the cars.

301 / 501 Queen shuttle buses

From 7 a.m. Saturday, August 20 until 5 a.m. Monday, August 22, buses replace regular 301 Queen overnight and 501 Queen streetcar service on Queen Streets West and East between Peter and Church Streets.

Eastbound cars drop off and pick up passengers at stops

  • on Queen Street West at Peter, John and McCaul Street, University Avenue, York, Bay and Yonge Streets and
  • on Queen Street East at Victoria and Church Streets.

Westbound cars drop off and pick up passengers at stops

  • on Queen Street East at Church, Victoria and Yonge Streets and
  • on Queen Street West at Bay Street, across from York Street, at University Avenue, west of Simcoe Street and at McCaul, John and Soho Streets.

Although the TTC has not confirmed the route for buses when they loop, on previous occasions when shuttle buses have started and ended their trips at Queen Street East and Church Street, they drop their last passengers off on the southwest corner of Queen East and Church, then proceeded:

eastward along Queen;
northward along Mutual Street;
eastward along Shuter Street;
southward along Jarvis Street; and then
eastward along Queen to Church,
picking up their first passengers at the northeast corner of Queen and Church.

On previous occasions when buses have started and ended their trips at Queen Street West and Peter Street, the buses have dropped their last passengers off at the northeast corner of Queen West and Soho Street, then proceeded:

southward along Peter Street;
westward along Richmond Street West;
northward along Spadina Avenue; and then
eastward along Queen to Peter,
picking up their first passengers at the southwest corner of Queen and Peter.
