Buses replace streetcars west of Kipling,
starting September 4



Update — Thursday, November 3, 3:04 p.m.: The TTC has finished repairing the tracks and streetcars have resumed regular service between Kipling Avenue and Long Branch Loop.


The TTC is repairing the tracks at Long Branch Loop, starting Sunday, September 4.

While the loop is closed, streetcars operating along the 301 Queen overnight, 501 Queen and 508 Lake Shore routes start and end their trips at Kipling Loop, on Kipling Avenue, just north of Lake Shore Boulevard West.

Shuttle buses replace the cars between Islington Avenue and Long Branch Loop.

From Sunday, September 4 until Saturday, October 8, eastbound cars start their trips in Kipling Loop, then proceed:

southward along Kipling Avenue to Lake Shore Boulevard West,
resuming their regular route eastward along Lake Shore West.

Eastbound cars skip their regular stops

  • in Long Branch Loop,
  • on Lake Shore Boulevard West across from Brown’s Line, at 37th Street, Long Branch Avenue, 30th, 27th and 23rd Streets and Kipling Avenue.

Instead, eastbound cars drop off and pick up passengers at a temporary stop

  • in Kipling Loop.

on Lake Shore Boulevard West across from Brown’s Line, at 37th Street, Long Branch Avenue, 31st, 28th and 27th Streets, east of 23rd Street and at Kipling Avenue.

Westbound cars reverse the detour routing.

Westbound cars skip their regular stops

  • on Lake Shore Boulevard West at 22nd, 26th, 29th and 30th Streets, across from Long Branch Avenue, 37th Street, across from 39th Street and
  • in Kipling Loop.

Instead westbound cars drop off and pick up passengers at a temporary stop

  • in Kipling Loop.

From Sunday, September 4 until Saturday, October 8, eastbound buses start their trips in Long Branch Loop, then proceed:

eastward along Lake Shore Boulevard East;
northward along Eighth Street;
eastward along Birmingham Street; and then
southward along Islington Avenue,
ending their trips.

Westbound buses start their trips on Islington Avenue north of Lake Shore Boulevard West, then proceed:

southward along Islington Avenue;
eastward along Lake Shore Boulevard West; and then
northward into Long Branch Loop,
ending their trips.
