Burlington Transit detours buses
during Longmoor construction, starting September 12

Update — Tuesday, December 20, 9:45 a.m.: Construction ended yesterday, Monday, December 19 and buses have resumed regular service.

The City of Burlington is closing

  • Longmoor Drive between New Street and Tipperary Drive

during a construction project, starting yesterday, Monday, September 12.

Burlington Transit is detouring buses operating along the 4 Pinedale route while the street is closed.

It’s also operating temporary Dial-a-Ride service for passengers traveling to and from the closed section of Longmoor.

4 Pinedale

From Monday, September 12 until November, eastbound buses operate along their regular route to New Street and Longmoor Drive, then proceed:

eastward along New; and then
northward along Tipperary Avenue to Longmoor Drive,
resuming their regular route eastward along Longmoor.

Eastbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Longmoor Drive at Stephanie Street, beside #4100 and #4200 Longmoor, at Belvenia Road, east of Greg Drive, across from Catalina Crescent [east], at Laural Drive [west] and across from Inverary and Bennett Roads.

Instead, eastbound buses drop off and pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on New Street east of Belvenia Road and at Shoreacres Road and Wilson Avenue.

Westbound buses reverse the detour routing.

Westbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Longmoor Drive at Bennett and Inverary Roads, Laural Drive [west], Catalina Crescent [east], west of Auburn Crescent and across from #4200, #4100 and #4056 Longmoor.

Instead, westbound buses drop off and pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on New Street across from Goodram Drive and Shoreacres Road and at Belvenia Road.
Dial-a-Ride

To replace regular bus service along the 4 Pinedale route during construction, Burlington Transit passengers traveling between #4200 and #4390 Longmoor Drive can use dial-a-ride service.

When leaving Longmoor Drive, just call dial-a-ride dispatch at 905-333-1113 about 30 minutes before you need a taxi to pick your up or arrange to schedule a taxi to pick you up at the same time and location regularly. Pay the taxi driver the regular cash fare, a Burlington Transit paper ticket or show your monthly pass — then ask the driver for a special dial-a-ride transfer if you’re transferring onto a regular BT bus.

To transfer from a regular bus to a dial-a-ride taxi, tell your bus driver when you board the bus. The driver will book a taxi, give you a transfer and take you to the appropriate transfer point. The taxi will then take you to the stop closest to the nearest fixed route service point. Alternatively, you can call dispatch before boarding the bus or arrange to schedule a taxi to pick you up at the same time and location regularly.

Dial-a-ride service for Longmoor passengers is available Mondays to Fridays from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 7 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. Dial-a-ride is not available Sundays or holidays.
