Many special events affect transit services this weekend — including Terry Fox Runs in most area cities and towns.

This part of the post describes events in the the Meadowvale and central areas of Mississauga, Newmarket, the North York area of Toronto, the Thornhill area of Markham and Vaughan, central and downtown Toronto and the Unionville area of Markham.

Meadowvale


Meadowvale’s 175th Anniversary Celebration

The City of Mississauga is closing:

  • Old Derry Road between Historic Trail and Second Line West

all day Saturday to accommodate Heritage Mississauga events commemorating the founding of the village of Meadowvale.

MiWay is detouring buses while the roadway is closed.

From 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday, September 17, eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Financial Drive and Creditview Road, then detour:

northward along Creditview Road; and then
eastward along Derry Road West to Mavis Road,

From 7 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. Saturday, September 17, eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Centre Street and Atkinson Avenue, then detour:

southward along Atkinson Avenue; and then
eastward along Clark Avenue West to Yonge Street,
resuming their regular route southward along Yonge.

From 9:30 until about 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, September 18, expect delays as participants pass along College Street between Street and University Avenue / Queen’s Park.

94 Wellesley

Roncesvalles Polish Festival

The City of Toronto is closing

  • Roncesvalles Avenue between Boustead and Grafton Avenues

all day Saturday and Sunday to accommodate the Roncesvalles Village Business Improvement Area’s annual celebration of Polish culture in Toronto.

The TTC is detouring transit services during the event, resulting in no transit service along Roncesvalles Avenue this weekend.

313 Jane overnight

From about 2 until 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, September 18, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Dundas Street West and Roncesvalles Avenue, then detour:

southeastward along Dundas;
southward along Lansdowne Avenue;
westward along Queen Street West to Roncesvalles Avenue.

Southbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Roncesvalles Avenue south of Boustead Avenue, at Hewitt and Howard Park Avenues, Grenadier Road, south of High Park Boulevard, at Galley Avenue, south of Marion Avenue and at The Queensway.

Toronto 5K

The City of Toronto is closing

  • St. Clair Avenue West, eastbound lanes, between Christie Street and Russell Hill Road,

  • Macpherson Avenue between Boulton Drive and Davenport Road,

Saturday morning to accommodate the first annual road race, supporting the Hospital for Sick Children’s SickKids Foundation.

300 Bloor - Danforth overnight

From about 2 a.m. until 5 a.m. Saturday, September 17 and from about 2 until 9 a.m. Sunday, September 18, eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Bloor Street West and Jane Street, then detour:

northward along Jane;
eastward along Annette Street; and then
southward along High Park Avenue to Bloor West,
resuming their regular route eastward along Bloor.

Terry Fox Runs also take place in the Acton area of Halton Hills, Ajax, Aurora, Barrie, the Beaverton area of Brock Township, Brampton (including runs in downtown Brampton and at Heart Lake), the Bolton area of Caledon, Bradford, Burlington, the Cannington area of Brock Township, Cambridge, the Dundas area of Hamilton, the Etobicoke area of Toronto, the Georgetown area of Halton Hills, Guelph, central and downtown Hamilton (including runs at McMaster University, Gage Park and on Hamilton Mountain), Grimsby, the Keswick area of Georgina, King City, Kitchener, the Meadowvale area of Mississauga, Milton, the Mount Hope area of Hamilton, Niagara Falls, the Oak Ridges area of Richmond Hill, Oakville, Orangeville, Oshawa, Pickering, the Port Credit area of Mississauga, the Port Perry area of Scugog, central Richmond Hill, Rockwood, the Scarborough area of Toronto, the Stoney Creek area of Hamilton, Stouffville, the Streetsville area of Mississauga, central Toronto (including runs in the Beaches, Downtown Toronto, High Park and Wilket Creek Park), Uxbridge, the Waterdown area of Hamilton, Waterloo, the West Hill area of Toronto, the Woodbridge area of Vaughan and at York University in Toronto.
