TTC detours streetcars during Coldplay concert tonight



Muchmusic is hosting a special concert by Coldplay outside its studios on Queen Street West, blocking the street to traffic this evening.

The TTC is detouring streetcars operating along the 501 Queen route from 7 p.m. until midnight tonight, Wednesday, September 21.

Eastbound cars operate along their regular route to Queen Street West and Spadina Avenue, then detour:

southward along Spadina;
eastward along King Streets East and West;
northward along Church Street to Queen Street East,
resuming their regular route eastward along Queen East.

Eastbound cars skip their regular stops

  • on Queen Street West at Peter, John and Duncan Streets, University Avenue, York, Bay and Yonge Streets and
  • on Queen Street East at Victoria and Church Streets.

Instead, eastbound cars drop off and pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Spadina Avenue south of Queen Street East,
  • on King Street West at Blue Jays Way, John and Simcoe Streets, University Avenue, York, Bay and Yonge Streets,
  • on King Street East at Church Street and
  • on Church Street north of Lombard Street.

Westbound cars reverse the detour routing

Westbound cars skip their regular stops

  • on Queen Street East at Victoria and Yonge Streets and
  • on Queen Street West at Bay and York Streets, University Avenue, west of Simcoe Street, at McCaul, John and Soho Streets and Spadina Avenue.

Instead, westbound cars drop off and pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Church Street at Richmond, Adelaide and King Streets East,
  • on King Street East at Victoria and Yonge Streets,
  • on King Street West at Bay and York Streets, University Avenue, Simcoe, John and Peter Streets and Spadina Avenue and
  • on Spadina Avenue north of King Street West and at Richmond Street West.
