YRT distributes PRESTO cards to passengers,
October 4, 5, 6, 7

York Region Transit staff continue to distribute PRESTO fare cards to passengers this week. YRT is also waiving the usual $6 fee to issue the cards this week and staff are updating riders on how to use the smart cards and the PRESTO website and show you how to register your cards.

They’ll be distributing the cards at the Markham Stouffville Hospital tomorrow, Tuesday, October 4 and Wednesday, October 5, from 10 a.m. until 6:30 p.m.

They’ll also be handing out the cards at the Finch GO Bus Terminal Thursday, October 6 and Friday, October 7 from 1 until 6:30 p.m.

You can buy the cards for $19 during the event, but YRT is loading the cards with a value of $25, including the $6 issuance fee and $19 you can use to pay fares.

If you don’t register your card at the events, you must pay the full $25. If you do register your card, you’ll have 24 hours to activate the card by using it.

If you miss the events, you can buy and register PRESTO cards at the YRT head office at 50 High Tech Road, 5th floor, Richmond Hill Mondays to Fridays during business hours.

You can learn more about using PRESTO cards on YRT and Viva buses here.
