Update: Gerrard East bridge construction ends,
streetcars resume regular route this morning

This time, they really mean it.

The TTC’s project to replace the streetcar tracks on the Gerrard Street East bridge across the Don River and the Don Valley Parkway ended this morning, Friday, October 14.

Streetcars operating along the 306 Carlton overnight and 506 Carlton routes have resumed regular service along Gerrard East between Broadview Avenue and Parliament Street.

Construction started Monday, July 18.

The TTC previously announced — and we incorrectly reported — that regular service was resuming Sunday, October 9.

As a regular user of streetcars operating along these routes, we quietly say, “hallelujah”. We haven’t enjoyed the detours, especially when traveling eastbound.
