The union had ratified the agreement on Wednesday, September 28. Eighty-five percent of the fulltime employees who are member of Local 1573 and 65 percent of the part-time employees approved the deal. The agreement is in effect from July 1, 2011 until June 30, 2015.

The City’s negotiations with ATU Local 1573 focused on reaching a settlement that balanced the objectives and needs of employees, the Corporation and the residents. The union says it “achieved acceptable wage and benefit increases and many of our employment concerns have and will be further addressed during the life of the contract”.
