Some GO employees may strike, October 24

Members of the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 1587 may go on strike, affecting GO Transit bus service, as early as Monday, October 24. While Metrolinx and GO still hope that all parties can reach a settlement, they have put a contingency plan in place to maximize GO services during any labour disruption, while minimizing inconvenience to passengers.

In the event of a labour disruption, GO would continue to operate trains, but not GO buses. Stations and parking lots would remain open.

Metrolinx and GO Transit say they “remain committed to negotiating a collective agreement with the union and continue to be optimistic that an agreement will be reached”.

Some York Region Transit employees may also strike at 12:01 a.m. Monday, October 24.
