Crane blocks street, HSR detours buses, October 30

The City of Hamilton is closing

  • Aberdeen Avenue between Hyde Park Avenue and Dundurn Street South

daytime Sunday while contractors install a large crane at the site of a future condominium development.

The Hamilton Street Railway is detouring buses operating along the 6 Aberdeen route while the street is closed.

6 Aberdeen

From 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Sunday, October 30, inbound buses operate along their regular route to Aberdeen and McDonald Avenues, then detour:

northward along MacDonald;
eastward along Homewood Avenue; and then
southward along Dundurn Street South to Aberdeen,
resuming their regular route eastward along Aberdeen.

Inbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Aberdeen Avenue at Dundurn Street South.

Outbound buses operate along their regular route to Aberdeen Avenue and Dundurn Street South, then detour:

northward along Dundurn South;
westward along Stanley Avenue; and then
southward along Linwood Avenue to Aberdeen,
resuming their regular route westward along Aberdeen.

Outbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Aberdeen Avenue west of MacDonald Avenue.

The HSR will replace its regular 40-foot (12-metre) buses with its smaller, “neighbourhood-friendly” 26-foot (8-metre) buses to operate along the route while the detour is in effect.

The city says the HSR Aberdeen bus (Route 6) will be rerouted westbound from Aberdeen to Dundurn/Stanley/Linwood and back to Aberdeen. The eastbound bus will be rerouted from Aberdeen to MacDonald/Homewood/Dundurn and back to Aberdeen. The HSR will be using smaller buses during this time.

Inbound buses operate toward downtown.

Outbound buses operate away from downtown.
