Special events affect transit services in Bramalea area of Brampton, the Georgetown area of Halton Hills and the Lindsay of Kawartha Lakes affect transit services this weekend.


The events affect these routes:

The Saturday, October 29 events affecting transit services are: the 5K Run, Walk and Roll; the Lindsay Farmers Market; and Masquerade on Main Street.


Bramalea


5K Run, Walk and Roll

The Region of Peel and the City of Brampton are closing

  • Bramalea Road North between Central Park Drive and Queen Street East,
  • Central Park Drive between Hanover Road and Queen Street East and
  • Queen Street East (Regional Road 107), westbound lanes only, between Dixie Road and Glenvale / Finchgate Boulevards

on Saturday morning and early afternoon to accommodate Walk+Roll Peel and the 2010 United Way Region of Peel Employee Campaign’s first annual road race, supporting the United Way of Peel Region.

Brampton Transit and GO Transit are detouring buses during the event.

Brampton Transit
8 Centre

Eastbound buses operate along their regular route.

From 6 a.m. until noon Saturday, October 29, westbound buses start their trips in the Bramalea Terminal, as usual, then proceed:

southward along Central Park Drive South;
westward along Clark Boulevard; and then
northward along Dixie Road South to Queen Street East,
resuming their regular route westward along Queen East.

Westbound buses skip their regular stop

  • on Peel Centre Drive beside the Region of Peel building.

Instead, westbound buses drop off and pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Central Park Drive South across from the Peel Health Building,
  • on Clark Boulevard west of Peel Centre Drive and across from Braemar Drive and
  • on Dixie Road South at the entrance to the Bramalea City Centre (across from Lisa Street).

19 Fernforest

From 6 a.m. until noon Saturday, October 29, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Central Park Drive North and Hanover Road, then detour:

west- and northward along Hanover;
westward along Howden Boulevard;
southward along Dixie Roads North and South;
eastward along Clark Boulevard;
northward along Central Park Drive South; and then
westward into the Bramalea Terminal,
ending their trips.

Southbound buses skip their regular stop

  • on Central Park Drive North south of Hanover Road.

Instead, southbound buses drop off and pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Hanover Road west of Hartnell Square, across from Helena Court and Hastings Square and south of Howden Boulevard,
  • on Howden Boulevard at Dixie Road North,
  • on Dixie Road North at Hazelwood and Hillside Drives,
  • on Dixie Road South at Lisa Street,
  • on Clark Boulevard at Braemar Drive and west of Peel Centre Drive and
  • on Central Park Drive South north of Clark Boulevard.

Northbound buses start their trips in the Bramalea Terminal, as usual, then proceed:

southward along Team Canada Drive;
eastward along Knightsbridge Road;
southward along Central Park Drive South;
westward along Clark Boulevard;
northward along Dixie Roads South and North;
eastward along Howden Boulevard; and then
south- and eastward along Hanover Road to Central Park Drive North,
resuming their regular route northward along Central Park North.

Northbound buses serve all regular stops.

Northbound buses also drop off and pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Knightsbridge Road at Central Park Drive South,
  • on Clark Boulevard west of Peel Centre Drive and across from Braemar Drive and
  • on Dixie Road South at the entrance to the Bramalea City Centre (across from Lisa Street),
  • on Dixie Road North north of Queen Street East and across from Hazelwood Drive,
  • on Howden Boulevard at Hanover Road and
  • on Hanover Road at Homeland and Helena Courts and across from Huntingwood Crescent.

17 Howden

From 6 a.m. until noon Saturday, October 29, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Hanover Road and Central Park Drive North, then detour:

northward along Central Park North;
westward along Howden Boulevard;
southward along Dixie Roads North and South;
eastward along Clark Boulevard;
northward along Central Park Drive; and then
westward into the Bramalea Terminal,
ending their trips.

501 Züm Queen

Eastbound buses operate along their regular route.

From 6 a.m. until noon Saturday, October 29, westbound buses operate along their regular route to Queen Street East and Bramalea Road, then detour:

southward along Bramalea Road South;
westward along Kensington Road;
southward along Central Park Drive South; and then
westward through the Bramalea Terminal, then continuing:
eastward along Peel Centre Drive;
southward along Central Park South;
westward along Clark Boulevard; and then
northward along Dixie Road South to Queen East,
resuming their regular route westward along Queen.

Westbound buses skip the Bramalea Road Züm station.

Masquerade on Main Street

The Town of Halton Hills is closing

  • part of Main Street South Georgetown on Saturday

to accommodate the Georgetown Central Business Improvement Area’s annual children’s Hallowe’en party.

GO Transit is likely detouring bus service during the event.

31 Guelph - Georgetown - Union

(GO Transit has not confirmed the detour. this post describes how GO detoured buses during other events that closed Main Street South.)

From about 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 29, eastbound buses from Guelph operate along their regular route to Main and Guelph Streets (Provincial Highway 7) and then proceed:

southeastward along Guelph to Mill Street,
resuming their regular route southwestward along Guelph.

Eastbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Main Street South opposite Cross Street and at Wesleyan Street and
  • on Mill Street at Guelph Street.

Westbound buses reverse the detour routing.

Westbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Mill Street south of Guelph Street and
  • on Main Street South opposite Wesleyan Street and at Cross Street.

Buses that start or end their trips at Georgetown operate to and from the Georgetown GO Station, instead of Main Street South and Wesleyan Street and do not travel to downtown Georgetown.

Buses continue to detour around construction along Queen Street near the Georgetown GO Station.

Saturday mornings from May 1 until October 29, the City of Kawartha Lakes is closing

  • Victoria Avenue North between Peel Street and Kent Street West

during the weekly market.

Lindsay Transit is detouring buses to accommodate the event.

Green route

From 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, October 30, inbound buses operate along their regular route to Victoria Avenue North and Peel Street, then detour:

eastward along Peel Street;
southward along Cambridge Street North; and then
westward along Kent Street West to Victoria Avenue North,
resuming their regular route westward along Kent West.

Outbound buses operate along their regular route.

This is the last market of the year.
