DRT revises routes and services, November 7

Durham Region Transit is introducing new community bus service in the Township of Scugog and revising the current route for one of its services in the Town of Ajax, starting Monday, November 7.

The changes affect these routes: 280 Westney / Village / Delaney, Port Perry / Prince Albert community bus.

Introducing a new route

Port Perry / Prince Albert community bus

Starting Monday, November 7, DRT starts service along this new community bus in the Township of Scugog. The bus operates Mondays and Thursdays only.

Buses start their trips on Curts Street east of Water Street in Port Perry, then proceed:

westward along Curts;
northward along Water to Bird’s Eye Park, passing the Scugog Memorial Library; and then
southward along Water;
westward along Queen Street;
northwestward along Perry Street;
northward along Simcoe Street;
eastward along Coulter Street;
southward along Lakeshore Drive;
westward along Beech and Kellett Streets;
northward along Bigelow Street;
westward along Reach Street;
southward along Old Simcoe Road;
eastward along Balsam Street;
southward along Rosa Street;
westward along Paxton Street, passing the Port Perry campus of Lakeridge Health Centre;
southward along Old Simcoe;
westward along Queen and Highway 7A to Walmart; then continuing
eastward along Highway 7A and Scugog Street;
southward along Old Simcoe;
eastward along Alma Street;
southward along Ash Street;
eastward along Victoria Street;
east- and northward along Edward S. Cuddie Boulevard;
eastward along Major Street;
southward along Simcoe to Canadian Tire; then continuing
northward along Simcoe;
eastward along Scugog;
north- and westward along Curts to Water,
ending their trips.

Buses leave Curts and Water Streets at 9:30, 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays. They return to Curts and Waters at 10:15 and 11:15 a.m. and 12:15, 2:15 and 3:15 p.m.

The new route replaces the current Thursday-only dial-a-ride service.

The seasonal, Thursday-only community bus service between Scugog Island and Port Perry ended for the year Thursday, October 27. Service resumes next spring.

Revising a current route

280 Westney / Village / Delaney

Inbound buses operate along their regular route.

Monday-to-Saturday evenings and all day Sundays and holidays, starting Monday, November 7, outbound buses operate along their current route to Rossland Road West and Ravenscroft Road, then proceed:

northward along Ravenscroft; and then
eastward along Williamson Drive West to Westney Road North,
resuming their current route eastward along Williamson East.

Monday-to-Saturday evenings, and all day Sundays and holidays, buses no longer serve their current stops

  • on Rossland Road West across from Stevensgate Drive and east of Pearce Drive and
  • on Westney Road North north of Rossland Road West and across from Telford Street and Glennie Drive.
