Ashbridges Bay carhouse landscape design:
Public meeting, November 9

The TTC and landscape architects, Brown and Storey, are presenting the detailed landscape design for the land surrounding the future Ashbridges Bay Maintenance and Storage Facility.

Last year, Brown + Storey Architects won a landscape design competition for the site at the southeast corner of Leslie Street and Lake Shore Boulevard East. The presentation reflects their work on this project since fall 2010 and results from input that TTC staff and the landscape architects received during a series of community meetings last summer and fall.

The event takes place Thursday, November 9 at the Toronto Emergency Services training centre, 895 Eastern Avenue (south side between Coxwell Avenue and Leslie Street).

6 p.m.: Open house

From 6:30 until 8:30 p.m.: Presentation, with a question-and-answer session following.

You can get there by TTC on streetcars operating along the 501 Queen route. Exit the cars at Greenwood Avenue and walk west half a block to Knox Avenue, then south one block and cross the street to the south side of Eastern Avenue.

The TTC is building a new facility to maintain and store streetcars because the first of its new, longer streetcars should be rolling along Toronto streets in 2013.

You can learn more about the project to build the new carhouse here and here.
