Buses replace Queen streetcars in downtown Toronto,
evening, November 6



The TTC is repairing the tracks at the junction of Queen Street West and Spadina Avenue this Sunday, November 6 evening and overnight until early Monday, November 7.

From 7 p.m., Sunday, November 6 until 5 a.m. Monday, November 7, it’s detouring streetcars operating along the 301 Queen overnight and 501 Queen routes.

Shuttle buses replace the cars between Bathurst and Jarvis Streets, while the TTC repairs the tracks.


501 Queen
301 Queen overnight

From 7 p.m. Sunday, November 6 until 5 a.m. Monday, November 7, the cars detour between Spadina Avenue and Church Street. Shuttle buses operate between Bathurst and Jarvis Streets.

Eastbound cars operate along their regular route to Queen Street East and Spadina Avenue, then detour:

southward along Spadina;
eastward along King Streets West and East; and then
northward along Church Street to Queen East,
resuming their regular route eastward along Queen.

Eastbound cars skip their regular stops

  • on Queen Street West at Peter, John and Duncan Streets, University Avenue and York, Bay and Yonge Streets and
  • on Queen Street East at Victoria and Church Streets.

Instead, eastbound cars drop off and pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Spadina Avenue south of Queen Street East
  • on King Street West at Blue Jays Way, John and Simcoe Streets, University Avenue and York, Bay and Yonge Streets,
  • on King Street East at Church Street and
  • on Church Street north of Lombard Street and at Queen Street East.

Westbound cars reverse the detour routing.

Westbound cars skip their regular stops

  • on Queen Street East at Victoria and Yonge Streets and
  • on Queen Street West at Bay Street, across from York Street, at University Avenue, west of Simcoe Street and at McCaul, John and Soho Streets and Spadina Avenue.

Instead, westbound cars drop off and pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Church Street at Richmond, Adelaide and King Streets East,
  • on King Street East at Yonge Street,
  • on King Street West at Bay and York Streets, University Avenue, Simcoe, John and Peter Streets and Spadina Avenue and
  • on Spadina Avenue at Richmond Street West.
301 / 501 Queen shuttle buses

During the track repairs at Queen Street West and Spadina Avenue, the TTC is operating shuttle buses between Bathurst and Jarvis Streets to replace streetcar service along the 301 Queen overnight and 501 Queen routes.

(The TTC has not confirmed the exact routing of the buses at the eastern and western ends, but when it has operated shuttle bus services along Queen Streets West and East between Bathurst and Jarvis Streets, the buses have followed this route.)

From 7 p.m. Sunday, November 6 until 5 a.m. Monday, November 7, eastbound buses start their trips in Wolseley Loop, on Bathurst Street at Wolseley Street, just north of Queen Street West, then proceeded:

southward along Bathurst;
eastward along Queen Streets West and East;
northward along Mutual Street; and then
eastward along Shuter Street to Jarvis Street,
ending their trips.

Eastbound buses drop off and pick up passengers at regular 301 / 501 Queen streetcar stops

  • on Queen Street West across from Denison Avenue, at Augusta and Spadina Avenues, Peter, John and Duncan Streets, University Avenue, and York, Bay and Yonge Streets and
  • on Queen Street East at Victoria and Church Streets.

Westbound buses start their trips on Shuter Street at Jarvis Street, then proceed:

eastward along Shuter;
southward along Jarvis;
westward along Queen Streets East and West;
northward along Bathurst Street; and then
eastward into Wolseley Loop,
ending their trips.

Westbound buses drop off and pick up passengers at regular 301 / 501 Queen streetcar stops

  • on Queen Street East at Church, Victoria and Yonge Streets and
  • on Queen Street West at Bay Street, across from York Street, at University Avenue, west of Simcoe Street, at McCaul, John and Soho Street, Spadina, August and Denison Avenues and Bathurst Street.
