CN replacing ties on Richmond Hill line, delaying GO trains

Update — Monday, November 21, 4:25 p.m.: GO e-mailed us to let us know that this project is a CN — and not a GO — project. We apologize for the error in an earlier version of this post.

Update — Saturday, November 19, 11:44 a.m.: The project continues until Friday, November 25.

From Thursday, November 3 until Sunday, November 20, Canadian National Railway crews are replacing track ties from east of Union Station to Old Cummer GO Station, affecting service along GO Transit’s 61 Richmond Hill line.

This program will improve the reliability of rail service on the line as GO prepares for the winter.

The crews will work overnight and in the daytime outside of train service times. However as they put the new ties in place, GO is temporarily restricting the speed of trains operating along this section of track.

This may delays trains as much as 10 minutes behind schedule while the project continues.

You can track the status of the project here.
