TTC detours streetcars during helicopter lift, November 12



The City of Toronto is closing

  • the intersection of King Street West and University Avenue

Saturday morning, while contractors use a helicopter to lift building materials onto a site at 145 King Street West.

The TTC is detouring streetcars operating along the 504 King route, while the intersection is closed. Shuttle buses replace the cars, operating between Broadview Station and Bathurst Street.


504 King

From 5 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, November 12, eastbound cars operate along their regular route to King Street West and Spadina Avenue, then detour:

northward along Spadina;
eastward along Queen Streets West and East; and then
southward along Church Street to King East,
resuming their regular route eastward along King.

Eastbound cars skip their regular stops

  • on King Street West at Blue Jays Way, John and Simcoe Streets, University Avenue, York, Bay and Yonge Streets and
  • on King Street East at Church Street.

Instead, eastbound cars drop off and pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Spadina Avenue north of King Street West and at Richmond Street West,
  • on Queen Street West at Peter, John and Duncan Streets, University Avenue and York, Bay and Yonge Streets
  • on Queen Street East at Victoria and Church Streets and
  • on Church Street at Richmond, Adelaide and King Streets East.

Westbound cars operate along their regular route to King Street East and Church Street, then detour:

northward along Church;
westward along Richmond Street East,
northward along Victoria Street;
westward along Queen Streets East and West; and then
southward along Spadina Avenue to King West,
resuming their regular route westward along King.

Westbound cars skip their regular stops

  • on King Street East at Yonge Street and
  • on King Street West at Bay and York Streets, University Avenue, Simcoe, John and Peter Streets and Spadina Avenue.

Instead, westbound cars drop off and pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Church Street north of Lombard Street,
  • on Queen Street East at Yonge Street,
  • on Queen Street West at Bay Street, across from York Street, at University Avenue, west of Simcoe Street, at McCaul, John and Soho Streets and Spadina Avenue and
  • on Spadina Avenue south of Queen Street West.

Although shuttle buses replace or supplement the streetcars along the eastern end of the route, these regular 504 King streetcar stops have no transit service while the intersection of King Street West and University Avenue is closed:

Eastbound

  • on King Street West at Simcoe Street, University Avenue, York and Bay Streets.

Westbound

  • on King Street East at York Street, University Avenue and Simcoe Street.

The TTC is operating shuttle buses along the eastern part of the 504 King streetcar route, while the intersection of King Street West and University Avenue is closed. The buses detour in both ways around the closed intersection.

From 5 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, November 12, eastbound buses start their trips at King Street West and Bathurst Street, then proceed:

eastward along King Street West;
northward along John Street,
eastward along Adelaide Street West;
southward along Bay Street;
eastward along King Streets West and East and Queen Street East;
northward along Broadview Avenue; and then
eastward into Broadview Station terminal,
ending their trips.

Eastbound buses drop off and pick up passengers at stops

  • on King Street West at Bathurst and Portland Streets, across from Brant Street, at Spadina Avenue, Blue Jays Way, John and Yonge Streets,
  • on King Street East at Jarvis, Sherbourne, Ontario, Parliament, Trinity, Sackville, Sumach and St. Lawrence Streets,
  • on Queen Street East across from Carroll Street and Broadview Avenue,
  • on Broadview Avenue north of Queen Street East, at Dundas Street East, across from Mount Stephen Street, at Gerrard Street East, Langley and Withrow Avenues, Millbrook Crescent, Wolfrey and Danforth Avenues and
  • in Broadview Station terminal.

Westbound buses start their trips in Broadview Station terminal, then proceed:

westward along Erindale Avenue;
southward along Broadview Avenue;
eastward along Queen Street East and King Streets East and West;
northward along Bay Street;
westward along Richmond Street West;
southward along Simcoe Street; and then
westward along King Street West to Bathurst Street,
ending their trips.

  • in Broadview Station terminal,
  • on Erindale Avenue at Broadview Avenue,
  • on Broadview Avenue at Danforth Avenue, across from Wolfrey Avenue, Millbrook Crescent and Withrow, Langley and Simpson Avenues, at Gerrard Street East, Mount Stephen Street and Dundas and Queen Streets East,
  • on Queen Street East at Carroll Street,
  • on King Street East at River, Sumach and Sackville Streets, across from Trinity Street, at Parliament, Ontario, Sherbourne, Jarvis, Church and Yonge Streets and
  • on King Street West at Bay, John and Peter Streets and Spadina Avenue, west of Brant Street and at Portland and Bathurst Streets.
