Welland Canal project means St. Catharines bus detours,
starting November 24

The City of St. Catharines is closing

  • Welland Canal Parkway / Government Road between Carlton Street and Bunting Road

for about five months starting tomorrow, Thursday, November 24.

The City is closing the road to allow Great Lakes St. Lawrence Seaway contractors repair the walls of the Welland Canal near Lock #2.

The St. Catharines Transit Commission is detouring buses operating along the 14 and 114 Scott St routes, while the road is closed.

The work continues a project that started last winter. The City closed the parkway, and the SCTC detoured the buses, from Tuesday, December 28, 2010 until April, 2011.
