TTC detours streetcars for Queen / Dufferin construction,
starting November 25

Update — Friday, December 16, 3:10 p.m.: Construction ended early and streetcars have resumed regular service.

From Saturday, November 26 until Monday, November 28 and from Saturday, December 3 until Monday, December 5, contractors will install two new bridge spans on the east side of the railway bridge over Queen Street West at Dufferin Street. They’ll be erecting the new spans and securing them in place.

The work is part of the ongoing Metrolinx / GO Transit project to upgrade the Georgetown South rail corridor and to build the Air Rail Link between Toronto Pearson International Airport and Union Station.

The City of Toronto is closing the street at various times throughout the work, but the TTC is detouring streetcars operating along the 301 Queen overnight and 501 Queen routes for the entire period from 7 p.m. today, Friday, November 25 until 5 a.m. Sunday, December 18. It will replace the catenary — the overhead streetcar wires — while it’s detouring the cars.

The TTC is not operating buses to replace the cars during the construction period.
