HSR detours buses tomorrow, November 29,
when CP Holiday Train rolls into Hamilton



The City of Hamilton is closing:

  • Gage Avenue South between Cumberland Avenue and Lawrence Road and
  • Lawrence Road between Ottawa Street South and Gage Avenue South,

tomorrow, Tuesday, November 29, evening, when the Canadian Pacific Railway’s Holiday Train stops in Hamilton.

The Hamilton Street Railway is detouring buses operating along the 5 / 5A Delaware, 5B Main West and 5C West Hamilton routes, while the roadways are closed.


5 / 5A Delaware

From 7 until 9 p.m. Tuesday, November 28, buses operate along their regular route to Maplewood Avenue and Gage Avenue South, then detour:

northward along Gage South;
eastward along Main Street East;
southeastward along King Street East; and then
southward along Ottawa Street South to Justine Avenue,
resuming their regular route eastward along Justine.

Buses skip their regular stops

  • on Gage Avenue South at Cumberland Avenue,
  • on Lawrence Road across from #50 Lawrence, Gage Park and Rothsay Avenue,
  • on Rosslyn Avenue South at Justine Avenue and
  • on Justine Avenue at Balmoral Avenue South and Ottawa Street South.

Instead, buses drop off and pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Main Street East across from East Bend and Glendale Avenue South and at King Street East (“the Delta”).
5B Main West
5C West Hamilton

From 7 until 9 p.m. Tuesday, November 28, buses operate along their regular route to Justine Avenue and Ottawa Street South, then detour:

northward along Ottawa South;
northeast- and eastward along King Street East; and then
southward along Gage Avenue South to Maplewood Avenue,
resuming their regular route westward along Maplewood.

Buses skip their regular stops

  • on Justine Avenue at Balmoral Avenue South;
  • on Lawrence Road at Rothsay Avenue and beside Gage Park and #50 Lawrence and
  • on Gage Avenue South across from Cumberland Avenue and #194 Gage South.

Instead, buses drop off and pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on King Street East at Belview Avenue and East Bend Avenue North.
