YRT workers picket Richmond Hill Centre, Finch terminals,
delaying buses today

Update — 8:05 a.m.: GO is advising passengers that GO buses serving Finch Terminal are dropping off and picking up passengers at TTC stops on Yonge Street at Bishop Avenue. GO buses serving Richmond Hill Centre are dropping off and picking up passengers on Yonge Street at Garden Avenue and High Tech Road.

Members of the Amalgamated Transit Union’s Local 1587 and Local 113 have set up picket lines at York Region Transit’s Richmond Hill Centre Terminal and GO Transit’s Finch Terminal today, Monday, December 5, delaying YRT buses operating along the few routes that still offer service to passengers. The strikers also likely affect all GO buses starting and ending their trips at Finch and all buses serving Richmond Hill Centre.

The employees have been on strike against three private companies that supply transit services to much of York Region — First Canada, Miller Transport and York BRT Servicessince Monday, October 24. The employees of a fourth private company that supplies YRT service are not on strike, which is why some YRT buses continue to operate.
