"Early homebound" rush-hour service, December 23



This Friday, December 23, many people will likely knock off work early to get a head start on the holidays — or to do last-minute Christmas shopping.

The TTC, GO Transit, MiWay and other transit agencies are responding by starting afternoon rush-hour service earlier in the day — around noon. GO’s “early homebound” rush-hour service, in turn, requires local transit agencies to revise the schedules of buses that usually meet GO trains to take passengers into residential neighbourhoods.


Early homebound rush-hour service affects these routes:

Brampton Transit
92 Bramalea GO shuttle

Buses operate with revised schedules in the afternoon to meet all trains on GO Transit’s 31 Georgetown line at Bramalea Station. (GO is operating earlier trains that arrive in Bramalea at 2:06 and 3:06 p.m. It’s cancelling the trains that usually arrive in Bramalea at 5:49, 6:19 and 7:19 p.m. All other trains operate on their regular schedule).

Brampton Transit is also revising rush-hour service by decreasing rush-hour service along two routes for the holidays.

Buses make early trips to meet earlier trains on GO Transit’s 01 Lakeshore West line. They leave Appleby GO Station at 1:02, 2:02, 3:05 and 4:07 p.m.


GO Transit
65 Barrie trains and buses

GO operates two early northbound trains, leaving Union Station at 1:15 and 3:15 p.m. and arriving in Barrie South GO Station at 2:52 and 4:52 p.m. It’s canceling the trains that usually leave Union Station at 4:40 and 5:35 p.m.

GO has also canceled northbound buses leaving Union Station GO Bus Terminal at 1:10, 1:20, 1:30, 1:40, 2:10, 2:20, 2:30, 2:40, 2:50, 3:10, and 3:30 p.m., because it’s operating the two early northbound trains. (The buses usually operate along the 63, 65, 65B and 65C branches and end their trips at King City GO Station, East Gwillimbury GO Station, Aurora GO Station or Newmarket GO Bus Terminal.)

After the rush hour, GO decreases its usual evening bus service, operating fewer buses than usual.

It’s canceling the northbound buses that usually leave Union at 7:50, 7:55 and 8:55 p.m. (The buses usually operate along the 63, 65B and 65C branches and end their trips at King City GO Station, Aurora GO Station or Newmarket GO Bus Terminal.)

38 Bolton / Malton

The northbound buses that usually leave Malton GO Station at 5:19 and 6:19 p.m. leave, instead, 30 minutes later at 5:49 and 6:49 p.m. The buses serve all stops along the route 30 minutes later than usually, arriving at Regional Highway 50 and Columbia Way at 6:04 and 6:59 p.m.

38A Bolton / North York

GO operates an early northbound bus leaving York Mills GO Bus Terminal at 1:25 p.m., arriving at the Albion-Vaughan Line and Industrial Drive in Bolton at 3:05 p.m.

The northbound buses that usually leave York Mills GO Bus Terminal at 4:10 and 5:10 p.m. leave, instead, 30 minutes later at 4:49 and 5:49 p.m. The buses serve all stops along the route 30 minutes later than usually, arriving at the Albion-Vaughan Line and Industrial Drive at 5:50 and 6:50 p.m.

36 Brampton / North York express

GO is canceling the eastbound buses that usually leave Bramalea Terminal at 7, 7:15 and 7:45 a.m. (The buses usually arrive in the Yorkdale GO Bus Terminal at 7:50, 8:05 and 8:35 a.m. and end their trips in the York Mills GO Bus Terminal at 8, 8:05 and 8:45 a.m.)

It’s also canceling the westbound buses that usually leave York Mills GO Bus Terminal at 4, 4:40, 5 and 5:35 p.m. (The buses usually leave Yorkdale GO Bus Terminal at 4:12, 4:52, 5:12 and 5:47 p.m. and arrive in the Bramalea Terminal at 5:05, 5:50, 6:10 and 6:40 p.m.

32 Brampton Trinity Common / North York

GO is operating earlier westbound buses leaving Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue at 12:35, 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. The buses arrive in the Trinity Common Terminal at 1:35, 2:40 and 3:40 p.m. They arrive in the Westerfeld’s Corners area of Brampton — Bovaird Drive and Hurontario Street — at 1:45, 2:55 and 3:55 p.m.

31 Kitchener trains and buses

GO is cancelling the eastbound bus that usually leaves Downtown Brampton Terminal at 9:55 a.m. (The bus operates along the 31J branch and usually arrives in the Union Station GO Bus Terminal at 10:40 a.m.) It’s also cancelling the eastbound bus that usually leaves Bramalea GO Station at 10:10 a.m. (The bus operates along the 31M branch and usually arrives in the Union Station GO Bus Terminal at 10:45 a.m.)

It’s operating extra westbound buses leaving Union Station GO Bus Terminal at 9:20, 10:20, 11:15 and 11:35 a.m. and 12:35 p.m. The buses operate along the 31F, 31H and 31L branches, ending their trips in Bramalea GO Station, the Downtown Brampton Terminal and Georgetown GO Station.

It’s operating extra westbound buses leaving York Mills GO Bus Terminal at 12:35 and 1:35 p.m. The buses operate along the 33A and 33E branches and end their trips in the Downtown Brampton Terminal or Georgetown GO Station.

GO operates two early westbound trains, leaving Union Station at 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. and arriving at Georgetown GO Station at 2:32 and 3:32 p.m. It’s canceling the trains that usually leave Union Station at 4:15 and 5:15 p.m.

GO is also revising the schedule for all westbound buses leaving the Union Station GO bus terminal from about noon until 4:30 p.m.

After the rush hour, GO decreases its usual evening bus service, operating fewer buses and operating others at different times than usual.

09 Lakeshore East trains and buses

GO operates extra eastbound trains, leaving Union Station at 12:30, 1:30, 1:50 and 2:30 p.m. The 12:30, 1:30 and 2:30 trains operate without stopping until Rouge Hill GO Station, then serve all local stops, arriving in Oshawa GO Station at 1:21, 2:21 and 3:21 p.m. The 1:50 p.m. train serves all local stops, but ends its trip in Pickering GO Station, arriving at 2:28 p.m.

GO is adjusting the schedule of the eastbound train that leaves Union Station at 5:20 p.m. Usually this train operates express — without stopping — between Scarborough and Pickering GO Stations. Friday, December 23, the train serves all stops to Oshawa GO Station, arriving at 6:21 p.m., five minutes later than usual. GO has adjusted the schedule of the northbound bus that operates along the 88 Peterborough / Oshawa route.

An eastbound bus that operates along the 90 Newcastle / Oshawa route and usually meets the 09 Lakeshore East train that leaves Union Station at 5:20 p.m. leaves Oshawa at 6:26 p.m. and arrives at King Avenue and Mill Street in Newcastle at 7:18 p.m.

GO has canceled the eastbound trains that usually leave Union Station for Oshawa at 4:25, 4:53, 5:35 and 6:43 p.m. GO has adjusted the schedule of the northbound bus operating along the 81 Port Perry / Whitby route that usually meets the train that leaves Union at 4:53 p.m.

01 Lakeshore West trains and buses

GO operates four extra westbound trains, leaving Union Station at 12:20, 1:20, 2:13 and 2:20 p.m. The 12:20, 1:20 and 2:20 p.m. trains operate express — without stopping — until Clarkson GO Station, then serve all local stops to the Hamilton GO Centre, arriving in Hamilton at 1:32, 2:32 and 3:32 p.m. The 2:13 p.m. train serves all local stops to Burlington GO Station, arriving in Burlington at 3:12 p.m.

GO also cancels the westbound trains that usually leave Union Station at 4:10, 4:30 and 5:02 p.m. It’s also canceling buses operating along the 15A and 18A branches which connect with the 4:10 train at Burlington GO Station. GO is adjusting the schedule of the northbound bus that operates along the 20 Milton - Oakville route that usually meets the train that leaves Union at 5:02 p.m. at Oakville GO Station.

It is extending the train that usually leaves Union Station at 4:13 p.m. The train operates on its regular schedule to Oakville GO Station and then continues to Aldershot GO Station, arriving at 5:18 p.m. An extra bus operating on the 18 Lakeshore West bus route connects with this train to carry passengers to Hamilton, arriving in the Hamilton GO Centre at 5:45 p.m.

21 Milton trains and buses

GO is canceling the eastbound buses that usually leave Cooksville GO Station at 5:50, 9:20 and 9:50 a.m., Streetsville GO Station at 8:55 a.m. and Meadowvale GO Station at 8:55 a.m.

GO operates early westbound trains, leaving Union Station at 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. The trains arrive in Milton GO Station at 2:28, 3:28 and 4:28 p.m.

GO has canceled the westbound trains that usually leave Union at 4:50, 5:25 and 6:18 p.m. It’s adjusting the schedule of the northbound bus that operates along the 25 Waterloo - Missisauga route. (The bus usually meets the train that leaves Union at 5:25 p.m., when it arrives in Milton GO Station.)

GO is also revising the schedule for all westbound buses leaving the Union Station GO bus terminal from about noon until 4:30 p.m.

After the rush hour, GO decreases its usual evening bus service, operating fewer buses and operating others at different times than usual.

27 Milton / North York

GO is canceling the westbound buses that leave Finch GO Bus Terminal at 4:30 and 5:15 p.m. Instead, it’s operating an earlier westbound bus, leaving Finch GO Bus Terminal at 1:25 p.m. The bus arrives at Main Street East and Martin Street in Milton at 2:45 p.m.

GO is canceling two westbound buses that usually leave Finch GO Bus Terminal at 6:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. (The buses end their trips in Milton at 7:55 a.m. and 6:10 p.m.)

20 Milton / Oakville

A northbound bus usually meets the 01 Lakeshore West train that leaves Union at 5:02 p.m. and arrives in Oakville at 5:31 p.m. Instead, it meets the train that leaves Union at 5:15 p.m. and arrives in Oakville at 5:44 p.m. The bus leaves Oakville at 5:51 p.m., instead of 5:41 p.m.

66 Newmarket / North York

GO is canceling the southbound buses that usually leave Newmarket GO Bus Terminal at 6:10, 6:40 and 7:05 a.m.

It’s also canceling the northbound buses that usually leave Yorkdale GO Bus Terminal at 4:20, 5:30 and 6:55 p.m.

Instead, it’s operating an extra northbound bus, leaving Yorkdale at 1:25 p.m.

12 Niagara Falls / Burlington

12 branch (The buses operate between Niagara Falls and Burlington)

The Niagara-bound bus that usually leaves Burlington GO Station at 5:09 p.m., instead leaves 14 minutes later at 5:23 p.m. The bus serves all stops along the route 11 to 14 minutes later than usually, arriving at the Niagara Falls VIA Rail Station at 6:40 p.m.

The bus that usually leaves Burlington at 6:05 p.m., instead leaves ten minutes later at 6:15 p.m. The bus serves all stops along the route ten minutes later than usually, arriving in Niagara Falls at 7:30 p.m.

12B branch (The buses operate express — without stopping — between Niagara Falls and Burlington)

GO has canceled all service along this branch of the route: it’s not operating the Niagara-bound express buses that usually leave Burlington GO Station at 5:09 and 7:53 p.m. (The buses usually end their trips in Niagara Falls at 6:09 and 8:48 p.m.)

19 Oakville / North York

19A branch (The buses operate between Finch and Square One)

GO operates two extra westbound buses along this branch of the route. The buses leave Finch GO Bus Terminal at 12:20 and 2:20 p.m. They end their trips in the Square One GO Bus Terminal at 1:10 and 3:10 p.m.

19C branch (The buses operate express — without stopping — between Finch and Square One)

GO has canceled all service along this branch of the route: it’s no operating the westbound buses that usually leave Finch GO Bus Terminal at 4:05 and 4:35 p.m. (The buses usually end their trips in the the Square One Terminal at 5:25 and 6 p.m.)

37 Orangeville - Brampton

GO is operating earlier trains and canceling some regular trips along the 31 Georgetown line, so its adjusting service to Orangeville.

The southbound bus that usually leaves the Orangeville Mall at 7:50 a.m., instead leaves 15 minutes earlier at 7:35 a.m. The bus serves all stops along the route, arriving in the Downtown Brampton Terminal at 8:30 a.m.

Earlier GO trains arrive at Brampton GO Station at 2:14 and 3:14 p.m. Passengers heading toward Orangeville can transfer to earlier northbound buses that leave the Downtown Brampton Terminal at 2:27 and 3:27 p.m. The bus serves all stops along the route and ends its trip at the Orangeville Mall at 3:22 and 4:22 p.m.

GO has canceled the northbound bus that usually leaves Brampton at 5:13 p.m.

96 Oshawa / Finch express

All eastbound buses operate along the 96B branch, meaning the serve the entire route between Finch GO Bus Terminal and Oshawa GO Station, but they also all divert to the Scarborough Centre GO Bus Terminal.

GO’s operating three early buses, leaving Finch at 11:15 a.m. and 12:15 and 1:15 p.m. The buses arrive in Oshawa at 12:10, 1:10 and 2:10 p.m.

It’s canceling all eastbound buses operating along the 96A branch. (The buses usually leave Scarborough Centre at 3:40, 4:10, 4:40, 5:10 and 5:40 p.m. at arrive in Oshawa at 4:15, 4:45, 5:25, 6 and 6:25 p.m.)

It’s also canceling the eastbound buses, operating along the 96 branch, that leave Finch at 4 and 4:30 p.m. (The buses usually arrive in Oshawa at 5:10 and 5:40 p.m.)

88 Peterborough - Oshawa

Northbound buses usually meet the 09 Lakeshore East trains that leave Union Station at 4:15 and 5:20 p.m. Since GO has adjusted the schedules of those trains, they don’t arrive in Oshawa GO Station until 5:30 and 6:21 p.m. Instead, the bus leave at 5:41 and 6:31 p.m. and arrive at Peter Gzowski College on Trent University’s Symons Campus in Peterborough at 7:01 and 7:51 p.m.

81 Port Perry / Whitby

GO is operating an extra southbound bus that leaves Simcoe and Mara Streets in Beaverton at 11 a.m. The bus arrives on Curts Street east of Water Street in Port Perry at 11:55 and in Whitby GO Station at 12:30 p.m.

A northbound bus usually meets the 09 Lakeshore East train that leaves Union Station at 4:25 p.m. Since GO has adjusted the schedule of that train, the bus waits at Whitby GO Station to meet the train, leaves Whitby at 5:29 p.m., arrives in Port Perry at 6:14 p.m. and Beaverton at 7:09 p.m.

GO is operating an extra eastbound 09 Lakeshore East train that leaves Union at 5:10 p.m. An extra bus meets that train, leaving Whitby at 5:56 and ending its trip in Port Perry at 6:41 p.m.

61 Richmond Hill trains and bus service

GO operates early northbound trains, leaving Union Station at 1:15 and 3:15 p.m. and arriving at Richmond Hill GO Station at 1:58 and 3:58 p.m. It has canceled the northbound trains that usually leave Union at 5 and 7:40 p.m.

It’s also canceling the northbound buses that usually leave Union GO Bus Terminal at 12:40, 1:40, 2:40 and 3:15 p.m. because it’s operating earlier trains. (The buses all end their trips at Richmond Hill GO Station.)

It’s operating an extra northbound bus that leaves Union at 11:40 a.m. and arrives in Richmond Hill at 12:15 p.m.

It’s replacing the northbound train that usually leaves Union Station at 7:45 p.m. with a bus. The bus leaves the Union Station GO Bus Terminal, also at 7:45 p.m., arrives in the Langstaff GO Station bus loop at 8:10 p.m. and ends its trip in the Richmond Hill GO Station bus terminal at 8:30 p.m.

71 Stouffville trains and buses

GO is canceling the southbound buses that leave Mount Joy GO Station at 8:30 and 9:05 a.m., Unionville GO Station at 8:45 and 9:25 a.m. and Centennial GO Station at 10:01 a.m.

GO operates early northbound trains, leaving Union Station at 1:15 and 3:15 p.m., arriving in Lincolnville GO Station at 2:26 and 4:26 p.m. GO also operates early northbound buses from Lincolnville. The buses wait for the early northbound trains to arrive at Lincolnville and leave at about 2:31 and 4:31 p.m., arriving in Uxbridge at 2:52 and 4:52 p.m.

GO has canceled the northbound trains that usually leave Union at 4:48 and 6 p.m. and the northbound buses that leave Lincolnville at about 6:04 and 7:18 p.m.

GO is also revising the schedule for all westbound buses leaving the Union Station GO bus terminal from about noon until 4:30 p.m.

After the rush hour, GO decreases its usual evening bus service, operating fewer buses and operating others at different times than usual.

25 Waterloo / Mississauga

A northbound bus usually meets the 21 Milton train that leaves Union at 5:25 p.m. Since GO has adjusted the schedule of that train, it doesn’t arrive in Milton GO Station until 6:38 p.m. The bus leaves Milton at 6:43 p.m. and ends its trip at the William G. Davis Computer Sciences Centre on the campus of the University of Waterloo at 8:03 p.m.

MiWay

GO Transit is revising the schedule of 01 Lakeshore West and 21 Milton trains to provide “early homebound” service. GO is canceling some trains and operating earlier afternoon rush-hour service. MiWay is scheduling buses to meet early trains at GO stations.

62 Cooksville GO Shuttle

Buses meet GO Transit trains operating with a revised schedule along the 21 Milton line. They leave Cooksville GO Station at 2:02, 3:02, 4:05, 5:05, 5:45, 6:02, 6:15 and 6:47 p.m.

32 Lisgar GO Shuttle

Buses meet GO Transit trains operating with a revised schedule along the 21 Milton line. They leave Lisgar GO Station at 2:22, 3:22, 4:24, 5:22, 5:42, 6:02, 6:17, 6:37 and 7:07 p.m.

64 Meadowvale Shuttle

Buses meet GO Transit trains operating with a revised schedule along the 21 Milton line. They leave Meadowvale GO Station at 2:19, 3:19, 4:20, 5:20, 5:40, 6, 6:20, 6:35 and 7:04 p.m.


Oakville Transit

GO Transit is revising the schedule of 01 Lakeshore West trains to provide “early homebound” service. GO is canceling some trains and operating earlier afternoon rush-hour service. Oakville Transit is scheduling buses to meet early trains at GO stations.

25 Aspen Forest

Early extra westbound buses meet earlier GO Transit trains operating along the 01 Lakeshore West line. They leave Clarkson GO Station at 12:47, 1:47 and 2:49 p.m.

31 Lakeshore Woods

Early extra westbound buses meet earlier GO Transit trains operating along the 01 Lakeshore West line. They leave Bronte GO Station at 1, 2 and 3:05 p.m.

33 Palermo

Early extra westbound buses meet earlier GO Transit trains operating along the 01 Lakeshore West line. They leave Bronte GO Station at 1, 2 and 3:05 p.m.

190 River Oaks express

The northbound bus that usually leaves Oakville GO Station at 5:07 p.m. leaves ten minutes earlier at 4:57 p.m. to meet an earlier GO Transit train operating along the 01 Lakeshore West line.

3 Third Line

The northbound bus that usually leaves Bronte GO Station at 12:56 p.m. leaves two minutes later at 12:58 p.m. to meet an earlier GO Transit train operating along the 01 Lakeshore West line.

102 Winston Park

An early extra eastbound bus leaves Dover Gate and Bristol Circle at 12:05 p.m. to meet an earlier GO Transit train operating along the 01 Lakeshore West line. The bus proceeds operates to Clarkson GO Station, arriving at 12:30 p.m.

Four early extra westbound buses meet earlier GO Transit trains operating along the 01 Lakeshore West line at Clarkson GO Station at 12:50, 1:50 and 2:50 p.m. They leave Dover Gate and Bristol Circle at 12:05, 1:05, 2:05 and 3:05 p.m.


Toronto Transit Commission

The TTC is reducing morning and afternoon rush hour service on most routes. Afternoon rush-hour services starts earlier — about noon — and ends earlier — about 5 p.m.
