Fare enough: Breaks for passengers during the holidays

The TTC and Oakville Transit are giving passengers a break to help kids, families and groups of adults to get around town by transit during the holidays.

Oakville Transit

Oakville Transit sells monthly Freedom Passes to secondary school students for just $20. Usually, students can use the passes to travel by Oakville Transit buses after school hours — Mondays to Fridays after 4 p.m. and all day Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

From Christmas Eve, Saturday, December 24 until Sunday, January 8, 2012, kids can ride any OT bus any time by just showing the driver their Freedom Passes.

Toronto Transit Commission

From Christmas Eve, Saturday, December 24 until Saturday, January 8, 2012, you can buy and use a TTC Day Pass for a family or group to travel by transit. For just $10 a day, a group of as many as six people (no more than two adults) get unlimited one-day travel. (You’ll have to pay an extra fare on TTC “Downtown Express” routes or on TTC routes that serve areas beyond the City of Toronto limits.)

You can buy the day pass in advance at all subway stations or at many stores and other businesses that sell TTC tokens.

The pass is valid for one day from the start of service until 5 a.m. the following day.
