GO revises routes and services, December 31



GO Transit’s making several changes to its bus services, starting today, Saturday, December 31.

To help increase service to and from Toronto for Kitchener and Guelph passengers, GO’s offering more buses to connect with GO trains just after the Monday-to-Friday morning rush hour and during the afternoon rush hour. Buses operating on the new 30 Kitchener / Bramalea and 39 Guelph / Bramalea route let passengers connect with GO trains at Bramalea GO Stations.

Starting today, GO’s relocating the Oakville “Park and Ride” carpool lot from the north side to the south side of Highway 407 at Trafalgar Road. Buses operating along the 46 Oakville / York U and 47 Hamilton / York U routes start serving the new site starting Tuesday, January 3, while, the same day, buses operating along the 20 Milton / Oakville route start serving the carpool lot for the first time.

Also starting today, GO’s opening the Newcastle “Park and Ride” carpool lot at the junction of Highways 2, 35 and 115. Local buses operating along the 88 Peterborough / Oshawa and 90 Newcastle / Oshawa routes start serving the new lot today, while express buses operating along the 91 Newcastle / Oshawa express route serve the lot starting Tuesday, January 3.


GO is revising service along these routes: 15 McMaster; 16 Hamilton / Toronto express; 20 Milton / Oakville, 21 Milton / Toronto, 25 Waterloo / Mississauga, 27 Milton / North York, 29 Guelph / Mississauga, 30 Kitchener / Bramalea, 31 Georgetown / Toronto, 39 Guelph / Bramalea, 45 Mississauga / York U, 46 Oakville / York U, 47 Hamilton / York U, 48 Guelph / York U, 51 Pickering / York U, 52 Oshawa / York U, 54 Markham / York U, 65 East Gwillimbury / Toronto, 66 Newmarket / North York express, 68 Barrie / Newmarket, 71 Stouffville / Toronto, 81 Port Perry / Whitby, 88 Peterborough / Toronto, 90 Newcastle / Oshawa, 91 Newcastle / Oshawa express, 93 Durham College - UOIT / Scarborough, 94 Oshawa / Yorkdale.


Specifically, GO is: introducing new routes; introducing new branches of current routes; canceling a branch of a current route; increasing service along current routes; revising current routes; and adjusting the schedules of current routes.


Introducing new routes


39 Guelph / Bramalea

Starting Tuesday, January 3, GO increases service for passengers traveling between Guelph and other GO stations along the 31 Kitchener line east of Bramalea.

It’s introducing this new route to let passengers connect with a later eastbound GO train Mondays to Fridays at the end of the morning rush hour and with more westbound trains before and during the afternoon rush hour.

The eastbound bus leaves Guelph Central GO Station at 8 a.m., then operates express - without stopping - arriving in the Bramalea GO Station bus terminal at 9:10 a.m. An eastbound train leaves Bramalea at 9:35 a.m., serves all stations further east along the line, arriving in Union Station at 10:13 a.m.

Passengers can ride the westbound31L branch bus that leaves the Union Station GO Bus Terminal at 2:15 or the 31 Kitchener trains that leave Union Station at 3:30 and 6:50 p.m. to connect with the westbound buses operating along this route. The westbound buses leave Bramalea at 3, 4:16 and 7:37 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, arriving at the Guelph Central GO Station at 4:10, 5:37 and 8:42 p.m.

Eastbound buses leave the temporary downtown Guelph Bus Terminal at Fountain Street East and Wyndham Street South, then proceed:

southward along Wyndham Street South;
westward along Wellington Street East;
southward along Gordon Street / Brock Road / Wellington County Road 46;
westward into the Aberfoyle “Park and Ride” carpool lot;
southward along Brock Road / Wellington County Road 46;
eastward along Highways 401 and 407;
northward along Dixie Road South;
eastward along Steeles Avenue East; and then
south- and eastward into the Bramalea GO Station bus terminal,
ending their trips.

Westbound buses start their trips in the Bramalea GO Station bus terminal, then proceed:

southward along Bramalea Road South; westward along Drew Road;
northward along Dixie Road;
westward along Highways 407 and 401;
northward along Brock Road / Wellington County Road 46;
westward into the Aberfoyle “Park and Ride” carpool lot;
northward along Wellington County Road 46 / Brock Road / Gordon Street; and then
eastward along Fountain Street East to the temporary terminal at Wyndham Street South,
ending their trips.

30 Kitchener / Bramalea

Starting Tuesday, January 3, GO increases service for passengers traveling between Kitchener and other GO stations along the 31 Kitchener line east of Bramalea.

Passengers can ride the westbound31L branch bus that leaves the Union Station GO Bus Terminal at 2:15 or the 31 Kitchener trains that leave Union Station at 3:30 and 6:50 p.m. to connect with the westbound buses operating along this route. The westbound buses leave Bramalea at 3, 4:16 and 7:37 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, arriving at the Kitchener GO Station at 4:10, 5:42 and 8:47 p.m.

Eastbound buses leave Kitchener GO Station, then proceed:

northeastward along Victoria Street North;
southward along Edna Street;
eastward along the Conestoga Parkway on-ramp;
southwestward along the Conestoga Parkway;
southeastward along King Street East / Highway 8;
eastward along Highways 401 and 407;
northward along Dixie Road South;
eastward along Steeles Avenue East; and then
south- and eastward into the Bramalea GO Station bus terminal,
ending their trips.

Westbound buses start their trips in the Bramalea GO Station bus terminal, then proceed:

southward along Bramalea Road South; westward along Drew Road;
northward along Dixie Road;
westward along Highways 407 and 401;
northwestward along Highway 8 / King Street East;
northeastward along Conestoga Parkway;
northward along Bruce Street;
southwestward along Victoria Street North to Kitchener GO Station,
ending their trips.

Introducing new branches of current routes


31 Georgetown / Toronto

Starting Tuesday, January 3, the eastbound bus that currently operates along the 31F branch leaves Main and James Streets in downtown Georgetown at 9:25 a.m. Mondays to Fridays, serves local stops only as far east as Westerveld’s Corners - Bovaird Drive and Hurontario Street in Brampton. West of Westerveld’s Corners, the bus operates express - without stopping - to the Union Station GO Bus Terminal, arriving at 10:35 a.m.

By making this change in the schedule, GO creates a new branch of the route, which it designates the 31T branch.

47 Hamilton / York U

47H branch (The buses operate between the Bronte carpool lot and McMaster University)

Starting Tuesday, January 3, GO operates buses along this new branch of the route.

Westbound buses leave the Bronte “Park and Ride” carpool lot at 7:21, 7:51, 8:21 and 8:51 a.m. Mondays to Fridays. They arrive in the Burlington “Park and Ride” lot at 7:29, 7:59, 8:29 and 8:51 a.m. They arrive in the McMaster University GO Bus Terminal at 7:55, 8:25, 8:55 and 9:25 a.m.

52 Oshawa / York U

52A branch (The bus operates between Unionville GO Station and Durham College / UOIT)

Starting Tuesday, January 3, GO operates a single eastbound bus along this new branch of the route. The bus leaves Unionville GO Station at 7:10 a.m. Mondays to Fridays. It arrives on Durham College’s Oshawa Campus and the campus of the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) at 7:45 a.m.

Canceling a branch of a current route


27 Milton / North York

27D branch (The bus operates between Meadowvale and Finch, without serving the Meadowvale Business Park)

Starting Tuesday, January 3, the eastbound bus that currently leaves Meadowvale GO Station at 9:55 a.m. Mondays to Fridays operates along the 27F branch. That means GO diverts the bus from the main route to serve the Meadowvale Business Park. Since this was the only bus operating along the 27D branch, by diverting the bus to the business park, GO is, in effect, canceling all service along the branch.

Increasing service along current routes

31 Georgetown / Toronto

31F and 31T branches (The buses operate between Georgetown and Union Station)

Starting Tuesday, January 3, the eastbound bus that currently leaves Main and James Streets in downtown Georgetown at 9:25 a.m. Mondays to Fridays, serves local stops only as far east as Westerveld’s Corners - Bovaird Drive and Hurontario Street in Brampton. West of Westerveld’s Corners, the bus operates express - without stopping - to the Union Station GO Bus Terminal, arriving at 10:35 a.m.

With this change, GO designates this new branch of the route, the 31T branch.

31J branch (The buses operate between Brampton and Union Station)

Starting Tuesday, January 3, GO operates buses on five new Monday-to-Friday eastbound trips along this branch of the route.

The buses leave the Downtown Brampton Bus Terminal at 10:05 and 11:05 a.m. and 12:05, 1:05 and 2:05 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. They arrive in the Union Station GO Bus Terminal at 10:50 and 11:50 a.m. and 12:50, 1:50 and 2:50 p.m.

31L branch (The buses operate express - without stopping — between Bramalea and Union Station)

Starting Tuesday, January 3, GO operates buses on two new Monday-to-Friday eastbound trips along this branch of the route.

The buses leave Bramalea GO Station at 1:20 and 2:50 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. They arrive in the Union Station GO Bus Terminal at 2 and 3:30 p.m.

29 Guelph / Mississauga

Starting Tuesday, January 3, GO operates buses on new Monday-to-Friday east- and westbound trips.

The eastbound bus leaves the University Centre Terminal on the University of Guelph Campus at 11:35 a.m. Mondays to Fridays. It arrives in the Cooksville GO Station bus terminal at 12:40 p.m. The westbound bus leaves Cooksville at 10:05 a.m. It arrives on campus at 11:15 a.m.

Also starting Tuesday, January 3, the eastbound bus that currently leaves the University of Guelph at 1:35 p.m. Fridays only operates, instead, five days a week, Mondays to Fridays. The bus arrives in Cooksville at 2:40 p.m.

Starting Friday, January 6, GO resumes the Friday-only trips that it canceled during the holidays. It also operates buses along two new Friday-only eastbound trips. The buses leave the University of Guelph at 2:05 and 6:05 p.m. Fridays. They arrive in Cooksville at 3:10 and 7:10 p.m.

Starting Sunday, January 8, GO resumes all regular Sunday service that it canceled during the holidays.

GO is also adjusting the schedule of the route.

48 Guelph - York U

48 branch (The buses operate between the University of Guelph and York University)

Starting Tuesday, January 3, GO resumes all regular Monday-to-Friday trips that it canceled during the holidays.

Also starting January 3, GO operates buses along new east- and westbound trips along this branch of the route.

The eastbound bus leaves the University Centre Terminal on the University of Guelph campus at 5 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. It arrives at the Harry W. Arthurs Common on York University’s Keele Campus at 6:45 p.m.

The westbound bus leaves York at 5:35 a.m. and arrives on the University of Guelph campus at 7:10 a.m.

Starting Friday, January 6, GO resumes all regular Friday-only trips that it canceled during the holidays.

Starting Sunday, January 8, GO resumes all regular Sunday service that it canceled during the holidays.

Starting Tuesday, January 3, GO operates a bus along a new Monday-to-Friday eastbound trip.

The bus leaves the Hamilton GO Centre at 7:10 a.m. Mondays to Fridays. It arrives in the Union Station GO Bus Terminal at 8:35 a.m.

Starting Friday, January 6, holiday service ends and regular service resumes. GO again operates the eastbound buses that leave the Hamilton GO Centre at 1:45, 2:15, 2:45, 3:15, 3:45, 4:15, 4:45, 5:15, 5:45, 6:15 and 6:45 Fridays. The buses arrive in the Union Station GO Bus Station at 2:40, 3:10, 3:40, 4:10, 4:45, 5:20, 5:50, 6:25, 6:50, 7:20 and 7:40 p.m.

Starting Sunday, January 8, GO resumes all regular Sunday service that it canceled during the holidays.

The buses leave the McMaster University GO Bus Terminal at 1:31, 2:42, 2:50, 3:31, 4:03, 4:58 and 5:27 p.m. Fridays. They arrive in Aldershot GO Station bus terminal at 2:44, 2:55, 3:03, 3:44, 4:16, 5:11 and 5:40 p.m.

Starting Sunday, January 8, GO resumes all regular Sunday service that it canceled during the holidays.

Starting Tuesday, January 3, GO operate buses on two new Monday-to-Friday westbound trips along the route.

The buses leave Burlington GO Station at 7:58 and 9:05 a.m. Mondays to Fridays. They arrive in the McMaster University GO Bus Terminal at 8:20 and 9:27 a.m.

GO is increasing service to the Meadowvale Business Park by adjusting the schedule of the route.

The eastbound 27 branch buses that leave Martin Street north of Main Street East in downtown Milton at 10:40 a.m. and 1:45 a.m. operate, instead, along the 27A branch, arriving on Syntex Court west of Financial Drive in the business park at 11:21 a.m. and 2:26 p.m. They arrive in Finch GO Bus Terminal at 12:10 and 3:15 p.m.

The westbound 27 branch bus that leaves Finch at 12:15 p.m. operates, instead, along the 27A branch, arriving in the business park at 12:55 p.m. It arrives in Milton at 1:40 p.m.

The eastbound 27D branch bus that leaves Meadowvale GO Station at 9:55 a.m. Mondays to Fridays operates, instead, along the 27F branch. It arrives in the business park at 9:58 a.m. and Finch at 10:50 a.m.

Starting Saturday, December 31, GO operates buses on a new eastbound and four new westbound Saturday trips along the main branch of the route.

The eastbound bus leaves the William G. Davis Computer Sciences Centre on the University of Waterloo campus at 7:45 p.m. Saturdays. It arrives in the Square One GO Bus Terminal at 9:20 p.m.

The westbound buses leave Square One at 6:10 and 7:10 a.m. and 7:10 and 10:10 p.m. They arrive on campus at 7:45 and 8:45 a.m. and 8:50 and 11:45 p.m.

Starting Tuesday, January 3, GO operates buses on a new eastbound and two new westbound Monday-to-Friday trips along the main branch of the route.

The eastbound bus leaves the University of Waterloo at 6:35 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. It arrives in the Square One terminal at 8:10 p.m.

Starting Saturday, December 31, GO increases eastbound express service from Wilfrid Laurier University. It operates buses on four new eastbound and three new westbound Saturday trips along this branch of the route.
