New Year’s Eve events near the City Halls of Brampton and Mississauga affect nearby transit services this evening, New Year’s Eve, Saturday, December 31 and into the early hours of tomorrow, New Year’s Day, Sunday, January 1.


The events affect these routes:

Brampton Transit2 Main, 502 Züm Main.

GO Transit21 Milton / Toronto, 31 Georgetown / Toronto, 34 Brampton / Pearson / North York, 35 Brampton / Humber College / North York.

MiWay8 Cawthra, 26 Burnhamthorpe, 91 Hillcrest.


Brampton New Year’s Eve

The City of Brampton is closing:

  • Main Streets North and South between Nelson Street West / Theatre Lane and Glen Eagles Crescent,
  • Queen Streets West and East between George Street and Theatre Lane / Chapel Street and
  • Wellington Street West between George and Main Streets South

Saturday afternoon and evening and early Sunday morning to accommodate the event.

Brampton Transit and GO Transit are detouring buses while the roadways are closed.

After 3 p.m. New Year’s Eve, Saturday, December 31, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Main Street North and Nelson Street West, then detour:

westward along Nelson West;
southward along Mill Street North;
westward along Queen Street West;
southward along Mill Street South; and then
eastward along Frederick Street to Main South,
resuming their regular route southward along Main.

Southbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Main Street North at Queen Street West,
  • on Main Street South south of Wellington Street West and across from Woodbrook Drive.

Northbound buses reverse the detour routing.

Northbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Main Street South north of Guest Street, at Woodbrook Drive, Wellington Street East and John Street and
  • on Main Street North north of Queen Street East and at Theatre Lane.

After 3 p.m. New Year’s Eve, Saturday, December 31, southbound buses operate along their regular route to the Downtown Brampton Terminal, then detour:

westward along Nelson Street West;
southward along Mill Street North;
westward along Queen Street West;
southward along Mill Street South; and then
eastward along Frederick Street to Main South,
resuming their regular route southward along Main.

Southbound buses skip the regular Wellington Züm stop.

Northbound buses reverse the detour routing.

After 3 p.m. New Year’s Eve, Saturday, December 31, eastbound buses start their trips in the Downtown Brampton Terminal, then proceed:

westward along Nelson Street West;
northward along Mill Street South;
eastward along Church Streets West and East; and then
southward along Centre Street North to Queen Street East,
resuming their regular route eastward along Queen East.

Eastbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Queen Street East east of Chapel Street and at James Street and Centre Street South.

Westbound buses operate along their regular route to Queen Street East and Centre Street, then detour:

northward along Centre North;
westward** along Church Streets East and West;
southward along Mill Street North;
eastward along Nelson Street West;
northward along George Street North; and then
eastward into the Downtown Brampton Terminal,
ending their trips.

After 3 p.m. New Year’s Eve, Saturday, December 31, eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Main Street North and Church Street, then detour:

southward along Mill Street North;

northward along George Street North;
east- and southward through the Downtown Brampton Terminal;
westward along Nelson Street West;
southward along McMurchy Avenues North and South; and then
eastward along Harold Street to Main South,
resuming their regular route southward along Main.

Westbound buses operate along their regular route to Main Street South and Harold Street, then detour:

westward along Harold;
northward along McMurchy Avenues South and North;

east- and southward through the Downtown Brampton Terminal;
westward along Nelson Street West;
northward along Mill Street North; and then
eastward along Church Street West to Main North,
resuming their regular route northward along Main.

Mississauga New Year’s Eve

The City of Mississauga is closing

  • City Centre Drive west of Duke of York Boulevard,
  • Duke of York Boulevard between Princess Royal Drive and Burnhamthorpe Road West and
  • Princess Royal Drive between Living Arts Drive and Duke of York Boulevard

from 7 p.m. New Year’s Eve, Saturday, December 31 until 2 a.m. New Year’s Day, Sunday, January 1.

It’s also closing

  • Burnhamthorpe Road West between Confederation Parkway and Kariya Gate / Kariya Drive and
  • Living Arts Drive between City Centre Drive and Burnhamthorpe Road West

from 11:30 p.m. New Year’s Eve, Saturday, December 31 until 1 a.m. New Year’s Day, Sunday, January 1 to accommodate the event.

MiWay and GO Transit are detouring buses while the roadways are closed.

From 7 p.m. New Year’s Eve, Saturday, December 31 until 2 a.m. New Year’s Day, Sunday, January 1, eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Burnhamthorpe Road West and Confederation Parkway, then detour:

eastward along Rathburn Road West to Duke of York Boulevard,
resuming their regular route eastward along Rathburn West.

eastward along Rathburn Road West; and then
south- and westward along City Centre Drive to Kariya Gate,
resuming their regular route southward along Kariya.

  • on Duke of York Boulevard at Square One and Princess Royal Drives and
  • on City Centre Drive east of Duke of York Boulevard and at Kariya Gate.

Instead, southbound buses drop off and pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on City Centre Drive at Square One Drive and south of Robert Speck Parkway West (2 stops).

eastward along Rathburn Road West; and then
southward along Confederation Parkway to Webb Drive,
resuming their regular route westward along Webb.

Southbound buses skip their regular stops
