The Metrolinx board of directors is holding its next meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, November 23.
As usual, the agenda for the meeting contains both public and confidential items. The board will discuss the public items in a public session that starts at 8:30 a.m. The board then meets in private to discuss the rest of the items on the agenda after 10 a.m.
The meeting takes place in the Metrolinx Executive Boardroom, Sixth Floor, 20 Bay Street.
Among other items, the board will discuss, in public, reports:
- reviewing GO Transit’s performance and operations in 2011. (Among other tidbits of information, the report reveals that the number of passengers using GO trains has increased by nearly 6 per cent, the number riding buses Mondays to Fridays increased by more than 6 percent and that the number of passengers on buses Saturdays, Sundays and holidays increased by nearly 18 per cent in 2011. - reviewing the progress of GO switching from tickets and passes to PRESTO cards and recommending upcoming programs to encourage more passengers to use the fare cards.(You can view the presentation here. (.pdf))
- updating the board on the next steps for PRESTO, including setting up the fare-card system.in another transit system (OC Transpo: way, way beyond the scope of this blog!) and also reviewing the progress for more TTC passengers to have the options to use the cars.
